Universal Drops Unexpected Operational Bombshell for Epic Universe

Should Guests Be Celebrating?

Since its grand opening on May 22, 2025, Epic Universe has been nothing short of a blockbuster success for Universal Orlando Resort.

The park’s cutting-edge attractions, immersive themed lands, and record-breaking attendance have not only drawn massive crowds but also boosted overall resort traffic, hotel bookings, and merchandise sales. Social media buzz and glowing guest reviews have kept momentum high, solidifying Universal’s newest park as a game-changing addition that’s already paying off in guest satisfaction and revenue.

Now, Universal has some news for guests going at the end of August into early September.

Epic Universe Has a Big Announcement That Kind of Came Out of Left Field

The summer heat in Orlando was relentless, but at Universal’s newest crown jewel, the real discomfort wasn’t just the weather. Guests kept refreshing the Universal Orlando Resort app, only to be met with missing information—specifically, the park hours for Epic Universe.

It wasn’t the first time an app glitch caused confusion, but what came next was far from ordinary. Once the hours finally reappeared, visitors spotted something different. And for those planning trips over Labor Day, it was the kind of change worth reshuffling vacation days.

Epic Universe Will Stay Open Later for Two Weeks

As of August 15, 2025, Universal quietly adjusted Epic Universe’s hours inside its official app. From August 24 through September 8—including the entire Labor Day weekend—the park will now remain open until 10 p.m.

A technical problem today prevented display of Epic Universe operating hours in the UOR app.

The move comes ahead of the park’s first major holiday rush since opening. Universal hasn’t made a formal announcement, but this shift appears to ensure guests get the full after-dark experience during one of the busiest stretches of the year.

How to Spend the Extra Evening Hours

Two additional hours can be a game changer if you strategize.

  • Start later in the day: Arriving in the late afternoon means skipping the hottest hours while still enjoying a full evening of rides.

  • Target night visuals: Certain themed areas feature dramatic lighting and atmosphere that only shine after dark.

  • Grab late virtual queues: Watch for last-minute openings after the dinner rush.

  • Dine early: Free yourself up for prime ride time during the final hours.

Tip: Popular rides often drop in wait time after 8:30 p.m., giving you a chance to tackle big attractions back-to-back.

Insider Tips for Nighttime in Epic Universe

Veteran parkgoers know the best evening experiences aren’t always on the map.

  • Avoid crowd bottlenecks: Use side pathways to beat the fireworks crowd when leaving.

  • Seek hidden snack stands: Smaller kiosks often have minimal lines and unique menu items.

  • Last-hour power rides: Check the app for anything under a 15-minute wait and knock out multiple attractions quickly.

Why This Change Excites Fans

This update isn’t just about longer hours—it’s about unlocking a completely different side of Epic Universe. Nighttime brings cooler temperatures, more relaxed crowds, and a cinematic glow to the park’s design.

Guests on social media have already praised the change, calling the night views “unreal” and “worth planning around.” For a park designed with intricate detail in every corner, those two hours could be the highlight of the trip.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
