For more than 50 years, Scooby-Doo has been delighting audiences with silly scares, endless snacks, and mysteries that always end with a big reveal. From his cartoon beginnings to the cult-favorite Scooby-Doo (2002) live-action film, the goofy Great Dane has a place in pop culture that few franchises can match. Now, Universal Orlando is ready to tap into that legacy with a brand-new experience designed for families.

Scooby and the Gang Take Over Volcano Bay
This fall, Universal’s Volcano Bay water park will host “Volcano Bay Nights,” a limited-time event running every Friday from September 5 through October 31. Guests will get after-dark access to the park’s rides and slides while mingling with Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred.

It’s not just heroes—classic villains like the Ghost Clown will also appear, creating an atmosphere that feels like a live-action mystery. The Mystery Machine will roll up to Waturi Beach for photos, and a DJ will keep the energy high as characters roam the park.
Food That Fits the Theme
The celebration doesn’t stop with characters. Themed snacks will be included with admission—think churro bites with sweet dipping sauces and tropical popcorn flavors. Specialty food and drinks will also pop up at restaurants across the park, rounding out the nighttime party vibe.

Why It Matters for Families
Halloween Horror Nights might dominate Universal’s fall season, but it’s not for everyone—especially families with younger children. Scooby-Doo offers an alternative: spooky fun without the nightmares. Parents who grew up on the cartoons get to relive their own childhood while introducing their kids to a franchise that’s still going strong.
With Epic Universe now open and Horror Nights packed with big-name horror franchises, adding Scooby-Doo ensures Universal’s lineup appeals to an even wider audience. It’s proof that Universal isn’t just doubling down on scares and thrills—it’s expanding in ways that welcome the whole family.
