Walt Disney World Resort has officially announced a major change to Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park. After years of anticipation, Disney is reimagining the iconic castle with a new look inspired by the original design from 1971.
On August 31, 2025, Disney unveiled plans for a complete overhaul of Cinderella Castle’s color palette. The announcement was made during the “Beyond the Spires: An Insider Look at Disney Castles” panel at the Destination D23 event, which included a first look at the concept art for Cinderella Castle’s new colors.
According to Disney Parks Blog, the updated paint scheme will be inspired by the “classic and original look” that debuted alongside Magic Kingdom Park when it first opened on October 1, 1971. The new color scheme will feature grays, creams, blues, and touches of gold, all meant to enhance the castle’s architecture.

While this reimagining will not change the castle’s structure, it marks a return to its original charm, restoring some of the timeless beauty that many Disney Parks fans have longed for since Cinderella Castle got a pink makeover as part of Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary in 2021.
Walt Disney World Resort has not shared specific details on when the painting will begin or the timeline for completion. It’s unclear whether this project is related to a construction permit that Disney filed last week for work near Cinderella Castle.
Walt Disney Imagineers are still finalizing the details of the Cinderella Castle reimagining, but Disney Parks fans can expect more information in the coming months regarding the construction timeline and any potential interruptions to the park’s operations.
