If there’s one thing fans can count on at Disney World, it’s change. New rides arrive, old favorites evolve, and entire lands shift identities. EPCOT has perhaps seen the most dramatic of these changes, going from a “park of the future” to a hybrid of innovation and storytelling.
The latest example is Test Track, which has been reborn as its 3.0 version. With that transformation complete, fans can’t help but wonder which attraction is next in line.

A Ride Reborn
Since its debut in 1999, Test Track has been a fan favorite for thrill-seekers. The ride puts guests in the middle of a vehicle testing facility and ends with a high-speed dash, making it EPCOT’s fastest attraction. In 2012, Disney gave it a sleek redesign, leaning toward futuristic visuals and digital design.
Now, Disney has gone further. Test Track 3.0 combines the nostalgia of the original with new layers of theming, making the experience both thrilling and immersive. The update has drawn plenty of praise—but it also highlights how dated some of EPCOT’s other attractions feel.

Which Ride Could Be Next?
EPCOT is home to several long-time attractions, and three stand out as possible candidates: Spaceship Earth, Gran Fiesta Tour, and Mission: SPACE.
Spaceship Earth has long been rumored for a refresh. Gran Fiesta Tour, located inside the Mexico Pavilion, often pops up in speculation about a Coco retheme. Mission: SPACE, however, is the ride that seems most vulnerable to change.

Mission: SPACE’s Unique Problem
Mission: SPACE opened in 2003 with huge ambitions. Designed in collaboration with NASA, it was meant to be the ultimate astronaut training simulation. Thanks to its centrifuge system, guests felt genuine G-forces, and the ride was unlike anything else Disney offered.
But the ride’s intensity backfired. Guests complained of nausea, and even with the addition of a tamer “Green Mission” option, the attraction never reached the popularity Disney had hoped for. Today, it feels overshadowed by newer rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which offer thrills without the discomfort.

Potential Futures for the Ride
If Disney decides it’s time for a change, Mission: SPACE could go in several directions:
Overhauled storyline: ditch the Mars mission and create something fresh—perhaps a rescue mission or asteroid defense.
IP-driven concept: Stitch could crash the simulator, creating a mischievous and family-friendly spin on the space theme.
Total replacement: the boldest move, replacing the entire attraction with a brand-new EPCOT experience.

The Pattern Is Clear
With Test Track transformed, EPCOT’s other older rides are in the spotlight. Mission: SPACE has the technology but lacks the charm and repeatability Disney craves. Whether it’s an overhaul, an IP infusion, or a complete replacement, it feels inevitable that the attraction will see a significant change in the not-so-distant future.
Disney has shown it won’t hesitate to reshape EPCOT’s identity. And if history is any guide, Mission: SPACE may be next on the launchpad.
