Stitch’s Surprise Return to Disney Parks Stuns Guests In 2025

Disney World has brought Stitch back in a way no one saw coming. His latest return has sparked lines, excitement, and plenty of nostalgia.

The mischievous alien disappeared from Magic Kingdom after his attraction closed in 2018, but in 2025, fans are once again seeing him appear throughout the parks.

From Ride to Retirement

When Stitch’s Great Escape opened in 2004, it gave Tomorrowland a lighter replacement for Alien Encounter. Instead of frightening guests, it leaned on Stitch’s antics. The lights cut out, water sprayed across the room, and the infamous chili dog smell left its mark.

While it was fun for kids, many longtime Disney fans never fully embraced it. By 2018, Disney had called it quits, and the attraction had been permanently shuttered. It seemed like Stitch had been quietly retired from the parks for years.

Building Momentum Again

That changed this year when Disney released the live-action Lilo & Stitch. The film reignited interest in the character, boosting merchandise sales and reminding fans how popular Stitch was.

Disney even slipped him into the Walt Disney World Railroad narration when the attraction reopened. It wasn’t a huge moment but felt like foreshadowing—proof that Stitch wasn’t gone forever.

The Must-Have Halloween Souvenir

The real game-changer came when Disney debuted the Stitch mummy popcorn bucket. Designed with incredible detail, Stitch is wrapped up like a mummy, carrying candy and a pumpkin while glowing in the dark. It’s playful and spooky, and it's the kind of souvenir collectors can’t resist.

Guests have swarmed popcorn stands to get one, often waiting over an hour and hoping supplies don’t sell out. The bucket is exclusive to Magic Kingdom, but Disney has said it should soon be available at EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.

Part of the Party

The Stitch bucket couldn’t have arrived at a better time. Halloween at Disney World is anchored by Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, where the entire park transforms into a spooky celebration. Trick-or-treating trails fill bags with candy, Jack Skellington hosts a stunning fireworks show, and the parade is full of villains and glowing pumpkins.

Walking through the event with a light-up Stitch bucket is the ultimate accessory. It’s part collectible, part decoration, and already a fan-favorite tradition in the making.

More Than Just a Bucket

Some might shrug and call it merchandise, but Disney fans know better. The bucket is part of a larger push to bring Stitch back into the spotlight. Between the movie, the Railroad cameo, and now this wildly popular collectible, Disney has been laying the groundwork for a full Stitch revival.

Stitch’s Future Looks Bright

The response has been overwhelming, and it’s hard to imagine Disney stopping here. More meet-and-greets, seasonal offerings, or even a new attraction could be on the horizon. For now, one thing is sure—Stitch is back, and fans couldn’t be happier.
