Disney Resort Hotel Guest Calls Ambulance After Inhaling Life-Threatening Fumes

A guest at Disneyland Resort was transported to a local hospital after authorities responded to what was reported as a “hazmat threat to life” at Pixar Place Hotel. The Anaheim Fire Department quickly mobilized to the scene following the emergency call.

Pixar Place Hotel reopened in 2024 after being reimagined from Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, years after the transformation of Paradise Pier into Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park. This reimagining is just the latest in a series of changes for the hotel, which originally opened in 1984 as the Emerald Hotel of Anaheim. It was renamed The Pan Pacific Hotel Anaheim in 1989, later became the Disneyland Pacific Hotel under Disneyland Resort ownership in the mid-1990s, and in 2000 was rebranded as Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel to align with the nearby theme park land.

Nearly two years after its most recent reimagining, the Anaheim Fire Department responded to a reported “hazmat incident” at the hotel. Minutes after the response, Redditor u/Old-Illustrator-5246 shared a screenshot of a scanner app showing publicly available details about the September 29 incident.

“I’m sorry for the person but like what happened… I wanna know is it like a tanker truck, cleaning chemicals, or a natural gas leak or something?” the Disneyland Resort guest asked.

No further information was immediately available from other Disney Park guests on Reddit. However, YouTube channel OC LOWDOWN eventually released a video covering the incident, which included an interview with Anaheim Fire and Rescue Captain Michel Bowidowicz.

According to Captain Bowidowicz, only one guest was transported to the hospital following the reported “hazmat threat to life” at the Pixar Place Hotel. He explained that the Disneyland Resort guest had called authorities at approximately 4:30 p.m. on September 29, 2025.

“[We] dispatched a full hazmat response to this location where we found one patient that inhaled some bleach fumes, and we have transported the one patient off scene,” Bowidowicz said.

The fumes were reportedly the result of Disney cast members cleaning a restaurant at the hotel. Captain Bowidowicz noted that such fumes “can be” very toxic when inhaled, but the Anaheim Fire Department confirmed that the space did not need to be ventilated before it was safe for guests.

“Our units on scene monitored the air,” Bowidowicz explained. “There is no more hazard. Natural ventilation took over.”

Disneyland Resort security managed the necessary evacuations while the Anaheim Fire Department investigated the situation. All affected areas have since reopened, and there is no ongoing threat to guests at Pixar Place Hotel. The condition of the hospitalized guest has not been disclosed.
