Disneyland’s Castle Looks Like a Winter Wonderland After Overnight “Snowstorm”

While Halloween is still in full swing across Disneyland Resort, signs of the next seasonal celebration have already started appearing — and the first evidence is hard to miss.

Guests walking through Disneyland Park this week may have noticed a dusting of “snow” high atop Sleeping Beauty Castle, signaling that the resort is already preparing for the 2025 holiday season, which officially begins on November 14. The decorative snow caps, twinkling lights, and garland draped across the castle’s turrets mark the beginning of what is typically a resort-wide transformation.

The early decorations were first spotted and shared by theme park fan Matt (@DisneyScoopGuy), who posted a photo joking that “there was a freak snowstorm overnight in Anaheim that only affected the middle of Sleeping Beauty Castle.”

Although Halloween celebrations at the park continue through October 31, it’s not unusual for Disneyland crews to begin installing holiday decorations several weeks in advance — especially given the scope of the changeover needed across two theme parks, multiple hotels, and Downtown Disney.

A Quick Turnaround Requires Early Prep

The Disneyland Resort’s annual holiday overlay is one of its most elaborate seasonal efforts. Decorations span from the rooftops of Main Street, U.S.A. to Cars Land and the Downtown Disney District. Crews work overnight to ensure minimal disruption to daytime operations, making the early start both practical and necessary.

Given the size of the resort and the complexity of the installations — including ride overlays, lighting, fireworks programming, and seasonal food and merchandise launches — beginning preparations in mid-October allows for a smoother transition.

This year, Disneyland Resort's holiday offerings officially run from November 14, 2025, through January 7, 2026. Here’s what guests can expect:

Holiday Highlights at Disneyland Park

  • Sleeping Beauty Castle becomes Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle, outfitted with over 80,000 lights, icicle decorations, and nightly snow effects as part of the Wintertime Enchantment moment.

  • “Believe… in Holiday Magic” Fireworks Spectacular will return, featuring projections, seasonal music, and snowfall effects along Main Street, near it’s a small world and the Rivers of America.

  • The beloved “A Christmas Fantasy Parade” will once again travel down Main Street, showcasing Disney characters in festive attire, marching toy soldiers, and holiday floats. Reserved viewing is available through the Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort Guided Tour.

  • Seasonal attraction overlays return, including the fan-favorite Haunted Mansion Holiday and the whimsical “it’s a small world” Holiday, where scenes are updated with festive music, costumes, and decor.

  • Fantasyland Theatre will host “Holiday Fun with Santa and Friends,” offering holiday-themed activities, sing-alongs, and character meet-and-greets, including Santa Claus.

  • Disney characters will wear holiday versions of their 70th Celebration outfits, which debuted earlier this year as part of the resort’s milestone celebration.

Disney California Adventure Holiday Offerings

Across the esplanade, Disney California Adventure Park will host a range of cultural and holiday experiences:

  • The Disney Festival of Holidays returns, celebrating global traditions with live music, dancing, and seasonal food.

    • Highlights include the Holiday Toy Drummers, the Mickey’s Happy Holidays character cavalcade, and Mirabel’s Gifts of the Season, a performance inspired by Disney’s Encanto.

  • Disney ¡Viva Navidad! also returns to Paradise Gardens Park, celebrating Latin American holiday traditions with live entertainment, character appearances, and food offerings.

  • Cars Land transforms with seasonal overlays like Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree, complete with original holiday-themed soundtracks and lighting effects.

  • Guests can purchase a Sip and Savor Pass, which includes six digital coupons redeemable at food booths and participating locations, offering dishes like the returning pork belly adobo.

Hotels, Downtown Disney & More

The three Hotels of the Disneyland Resort will join in the festivities with themed decor, character dining, and holiday menus.

  • Storytellers Café at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel will introduce Mickey’s Christmas Carol Feast, a dinner event with characters in themed outfits.

  • Daisy’s Holiday Pajama Party will be available for breakfast and brunch, while Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel will also feature a seasonal overlay.

  • Tenaya Stone Spa will offer holiday-themed treatments, and Broken Spell Lounge will debut limited-time beverages like eggnog and spiced cocoa, alongside live jazz on select nights.

  • Downtown Disney District will feature nightly snow effects, live music, and holiday decor. Returning seasonal activities include Chip and Dale’s Ornament Trail, which invites guests to find themed ornaments and exchange completed activity maps for a small souvenir.

A Holiday Season With a 70th Celebration Twist

Though the holidays are taking center stage, certain elements of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration will continue through the season. The nighttime spectacular “World of Color – Happiness!” and the projection show “Tapestry of Happiness” will remain part of the entertainment lineup. However, the Paint the Night parade will pause temporarily and resume after the holidays.

Additionally, the resort’s MagicBand+ interactions and 70th-themed décor, including the colorful photo op castle in the esplanade, will stay in place alongside the holiday decor.

Early Snow, Early Excitement

While it may seem early for snowflakes and wreaths, Disneyland’s holiday prep is right on schedule. Decorating the castle now helps ensure that by mid-November, every corner of the resort is ready for the seasonal celebration — from the garlands on Main Street to the lights of Radiator Springs.

With decorations now going up, guests visiting for the tail end of Halloween Time might just catch the beginning of this annual transformation — a rare opportunity to see the magic unfold.
