Disney is going cashless. What do you think about the change?

Walt Disney World has embarked on an exciting journey towards a cashless system, aiming to simplify transactions for its guests. This initiative marks a significant shift in how visitors interact with the park, as they transition away from cash payments in favor of digital transactions. Initially, this change has been observed at select locations, primarily outdoor shopping venues and snack vendors. Gradually, more areas within the parks are expected to adopt this new payment structure as Disney seeks to streamline operations and enhance guest convenience.
As guests stroll through the parks, they may notice new signs indicating “Cashless Location: Please pay with Credit Card, Disney Gift Card, or Mobile Payment.” This proactive communication ensures visitors are aware of the new policy and can prepare accordingly. Reactions from visitors have been mixed; some appreciate the ease and efficiency of a cashless system, while others express concerns regarding accessibility, particularly for those who may rely on cash for their purchases. As the initiative rolls out further, Disney is paying careful attention to guest feedback to make necessary adjustments.
Transitioning to a cashless system means understanding the payment alternatives available to guests. The primary accepted methods include credit cards, Disney gift cards, and mobile payment options like Apple Pay and Google Pay. This variety aims to cater to different preferences and ensure that all guests can navigate the parks smoothly.
For those who might not have a credit card or prefer a budget-friendly option, purchasing Disney gift cards is an excellent alternative.
These cards can be bought at several retail locations, including grocery stores and Disney gift shops. Loading cash onto these gift cards adds another layer of convenience; individuals can simply visit a participating store, add the desired amount, and use the card at various locations throughout the parks. This option provides helpful flexibility, allowing guests to manage their spending effectively while enjoying their magical experience.

I don’t like cashless. You are gonna pay interest or charge too much on credit cards, gift cards you need to keep track of balances, mobile pay there you go need to use your phone more if you have one.
Keep the option of cash in the mix too.
Interesting money grab. Suggest Disney gift cards be purchased for those who prefer to pay cash and not to have every purchase tracked. (yes, I know Disney tracks people everywhere, but removing ALL privacy regarding what I choose to purchase is rather annoying) Odds of getting the exact amount on the card to meet your needs are slim so you’ll end up with a card that can ONLY be used for Disney company purchases and will likely not ever be completely used up so in effect Disney gets more free money. Not to mention it’s so much easier to over spend if you don’t actually see the money leaving. Just pay it back later (hopefully) rather than sticking to a budget and when the cash is gone, you’re done spending/shopping.
Then there’s tipping. Not so much servers as that can be tacked on to payment for meals but those other “service” positions. What’s the point of bringing cash on your vacation if generally it can’t be used. So folks just won’t bother. Bye bye tips for bell services, mousekeeping and/or various others who frankly I am NOT comfy paying by card and I’m betting won’t be overly enthused about a Disney gift card in lieu of actual, spendable where ever in the real world you want to (except now Disney) cash.
Just one more way Disney is making things more complicated for guests. Not a fan.
