Disney’s Tomorrowland is entering a new era—one where old favorites are getting a futuristic facelift. And after fans watched bulldozers level a classic spot earlier this year, Disney is doing something rare: bringing it back.

What Happened to Cool Ship?
The Cool Ship kiosk wasn’t a big-ticket attraction, but it was part of Tomorrowland’s DNA. The bright red spaceship perched on top, the steady spray of mist on hot Florida afternoons—it was one of those small Disney touches that fans loved. That’s why it was such a shock when construction walls went up in May and, not long after, the entire area was flattened.
By mid-summer, the pavement was torn up, the foundation gone, and fans assumed the worst. The demolition looked final. But behind the scenes, Disney was already preparing something new.
From Classic to Contemporary
Recent photos show the replacement kiosk taking shape. Two large menu boards now frame the front of the new Cool Ship, along with two ordering windows and a central pickup area. It’s a cleaner, more modern design—one that ditches the old spaceship in favor of sleek, metallic accents that tie in with TRON Lightcycle / Run.
The change mirrors what’s happening across all of Tomorrowland. From the technical overhaul of Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin to TRON’s high-energy entrance, the area is evolving into a more unified and forward-looking version of itself.

Nostalgia Meets New Design
Disney has officially listed Cool Ship on its Magic Kingdom dining page again, confirming that it will reopen later this year. For long-time fans, this feels like a victory. It’s not often that Disney demolishes something only to rebuild it in nearly the same spot.
Still, this isn’t just a copy-and-paste return—it’s a redesign for a new Tomorrowland. The mist may return, but the tone is different: sleeker, sharper, and more futuristic than ever.
The Future of Tomorrowland
Cool Ship’s revival signals that Disney is listening to guests who crave a balance between nostalgia and innovation. It’s a small addition in the grand scheme of Magic Kingdom, but it says a lot about where the park is heading.
Sometimes, progress doesn’t mean leaving the past behind—it means giving it a fresh coat of space-age silver.
