The Disneyland Resort in Southern California will soon make an important change to an attraction in one of its most futuristic lands.

It is no secret that the Disney parks are one of the best places in the world to enjoy the Disney experience. Whether one chooses to go to the Walt Disney World Resort or the Disneyland Resort in Southern California, there is certainly a lot to love about being at a Disney theme park.

All Disney fans know that Disney Imagineers from Walt Disney Imagineering and the Walt Disney Company are constantly working to improve the park experience and the Disney guest experience.

They do this by developing rides and attractions within the Disney parks and improving the quality of hotels, resorts, and food and beverage options within the parks. Disney also introduces new rides and attractions based on existing IPs that the company owns and renovates rides by retheming them, as with the controversial Splash Mountain to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure retheme.

Not all renovations are controversial at Disneyland, however, and some can be quite aligned with fans’ visions and futures for the park. For example, when Disney makes its attractions more sustainable and eco-friendly, fans are typically happy with the development. This is another way that Disney chooses to better the park experience.

In this vein, according to the latest reports, Autopia, a gas-powered attraction in Disney’s Tomorrowland, particularly the Disneyland version, is getting electrified.

“As the industry moves toward alternative fuel sources, we have developed a road map to electrify this attraction and are evaluating technology that will enable us to convert from gas engine in the next few years,” the Los Angeles Times reported from an email from Disneyland spokesperson, Jessica Good.

It’s important to note a few facts at this point. We do not know when the project will actually be completed. Disney has not confirmed a timeline for this particular undertaking. In addition, we do not know whether cars will be converted into electric vehicles or hybrids.

Rest assured, as we find out more information, we will be sharing it with our favorite Disney Fanatics.

More on Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland is one of many themed lands at the Disney parks and exists at many theme parks across the world, including the Magic Kingdom in Disney World in Central Florida, as well as Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disney Resort, and more.

The land first opened in Disneyland on July 17th, 1955. Despite founder Walt Disney’s reluctance, it became a corporate showcase. Monsanto Company, American Motors, Richfield Oil, and Dutch Boy Paint were some of the first corporations to open their displays in the themed land.

At present, the land is home to many wonderful and beloved attractions, including the Disneyland Monorail, Autopia, Buzz Light Year Astro Blasters, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Space Mountain, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, and more.
