Due to the sheer size and scope of the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, security and safety are a top priority.

Guests will pass through multiple security checkpoints during their visit to the four theme parks and Disney Springs, Walt Disney World’s premier shopping and dining hub.

Guests visiting this weekend will notice slightly new security measures at EPCOT, altering the way they enter and exit the park.

According to a new report from WDWNT, Disney is testing new security measures at EPCOT. The new producers were installed at the easternmost security plaza Friday morning.

Disney is now sending guests using wheelchairs and/or strollers to the far left, with all other guests to the far right. Typically, all guests would enter the same area.

EPCOT’s bag check process has also been altered. Tables have been rearranged seemingly to provide greater privacy while security searches through guests’ items. Guests visiting EPCOT will be subject to the testing for this new security checkpoint procedure. It’s unknown if this is a temporary or permanent change.

This is far from the first time the Walt Disney World Resort has adjusted its security entrances to its theme parks. Changes were implemented earlier this year at the Magic Kingdom.

The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, also recently upgraded its security procedures alongside a new entrance explicitly designed for the resort’s Downtown Disney location.

These security changes follow EPCOT’s years-long overhaul, which wrapped up earlier this summer. As part of these upgrades, EPCOT is now home to several new lands to explore and numerous new rides and attractions, like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

As stated earlier, security is a top priority for the Walt Disney World Resort, with thousands of guests entering and exiting the theme parks daily.

Alongside security protocols, guests are also required to follow the rules laid out by the Walt Disney World Resort. These rules affect everything from what guests can and can’t wear in the parks to the items they’re allowed to bring in.

About Luke Dammann

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
