Not every Disney update needs a massive media rollout. Sometimes, the quiet changes are the ones that make the biggest difference. That’s exactly what just happened at EPCOT. After weeks of growing anticipation,
Disney has finally rolled out a significant update to one of the park’s most picturesque spots: the Japan Pavilion. Fans have been waiting for this, and now the pavilion has officially joined the list of areas getting meaningful upgrades this year.

EPCOT’s Unique Spirit
EPCOT is renowned for its ability to strike a balance between thrilling attractions and rich cultural experiences. Guests can launch through space on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, then wander World Showcase and explore international pavilions that feel straight out of a travel guide.
Festivals like the Festival of the Arts, Flower & Garden, Food & Wine, and Festival of the Holidays keep the park fresh with rotating food and entertainment options. That combination of global flavor and constant evolution is exactly why EPCOT is the perfect place for thoughtful updates like this one.

Spotlight on Japan Pavilion
Japan has always been one of the most popular stops in World Showcase. Its serene gardens, koi ponds, and iconic red torii gate make it an unforgettable part of the EPCOT experience. Visitors love browsing Mitsukoshi, picking up unique souvenirs, and enjoying some of the best bites in the park.
So when Disney hinted this pavilion was next in line for an update, fans jumped straight into speculating what would change. Now the mystery is over—the update has arrived, and guests can experience it for themselves.

Big News for the World Showcase
The menu at Katsura Grill has officially been overhauled. Longtime favorites, such as Yuzu Wings and desserts, have been removed, and the sushi option has disappeared entirely. In its place, Kabuki Cafe has taken over as the only grab-and-go sushi location in the pavilion. That shift comes with a price bump, moving sushi from approximately $6.25 to $6.50 to $10–$14.
The kakigori shaved ice also got an upgrade. Guests can now choose between regular and large sizes, and the topping list has expanded to include Coconut Creme, Pineapple Creme, and Mandarin Orange alongside the original Sweet Milk. These aren’t minor tweaks—they’re major adjustments that change how guests interact with the pavilion’s quick eats.

Why Guests Are Excited
EPCOT regulars know how easy it is for food options to get repetitive, especially during the festivals. So when a pavilion actually gets a meaningful refresh, people notice.
The expanded kakigori toppings and new sushi structure at Kabuki Cafe have already gotten fans talking. Even with the price increases, many are excited about the shake-up and ready to adjust their go-to EPCOT food stops.

A Thoughtful Refresh for a Classic Pavilion
The Japan Pavilion didn’t need a drastic overhaul to make a statement. A well-timed menu update was enough to bring new energy to a fan-favorite space. This kind of change is exactly why EPCOT remains such a beloved park.
Disney understands that sometimes, it’s the small details—not just the big headline-grabbing projects—that make the magic feel new again.
