Disney Bids Final Farewell to Beloved 3D Experience, Gone Tomorrow

Today marks a bittersweet milestone for Disney World enthusiasts: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT will be enjoyed in 3D for the final time. Starting Monday, November 11, the attraction will close for a brief refurbishment and reopen later in the week with a major visual update—switching from 3D to 2D projections.

For the past four years, the France Pavilion favorite has immersed guests in a high-speed culinary adventure, shrinking riders to the size of Remy and sending them racing through the kitchens of Gusteau’s restaurant. The ride’s 3D effects, paired with Disney’s signature 4D elements, have made it a standout attraction, delighting guests with oversized ingredients, spinning kitchens, and sensory surprises.

What’s Changing

From November 10–13, 2025, Disney will temporarily close the attraction to implement technical updates that enhance the ride’s visuals and guest experience. Once it reopens on Friday, November 15, guests will enjoy the same storyline and immersive moments—but the 3D glasses will no longer be part of the experience.

Disney has shared that visitors can expect:

  • Sharper 2D projections replacing the 3D visuals

  • Updated queue elements and lighting improvements

  • New props sprinkled throughout the attraction

The goal, Disney says, is to maintain the charm and whimsy of the original ride while modernizing the visual quality for a smoother, more accessible experience.

The Global Perspective

This refurbishment at EPCOT mirrors updates being made to the Disneyland Paris version of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. The Paris attraction will also receive upgraded props, enhanced projection technology, and queue improvements. Disney is clearly standardizing the ride experience across its parks, ensuring consistency while also leveraging modern projection technology to improve clarity.

A Ride Worth Experiencing

For guests who haven’t yet experienced the attraction in 3D, today offers a last chance to step into Remy’s world as it was originally designed. From the whirl of flying kitchen utensils to the oversized rat-sized world, the 3D effects helped elevate the sense of being “miniaturized” alongside the adventurous chef.

Even after the change to 2D, Disney promises that the ride will remain faithful to its core story: following Remy on a fast-paced culinary adventure, complete with Disney’s trademark attention to detail, intricate set design, and immersive audio-visual storytelling.

Why Disney Is Switching to 2D

While 3D rides have their charm, Disney appears to be prioritizing accessibility and technical optimization. Removing the glasses eliminates a potential logistical challenge—keeping them clean, fitting them to different head sizes, and ensuring guests are comfortable. The move also allows for enhanced projection clarity, making details sharper and colors more vibrant.

It’s not unusual for theme parks to refresh popular rides to ensure they remain relevant and enjoyable for future visitors. By updating Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in this way, Disney ensures the attraction will continue to impress guests, even without the 3D element.

What Guests Should Know

  • Last chance for 3D: November 9, 2025

  • Closure dates: November 10–13, 2025

  • Reopening: November 15, 2025 (2D projections, enhanced visuals)

  • Expect updates: Props, lighting, and queue improvements

For fans of Disney’s creative storytelling, today is a unique opportunity to experience the ride in its original format before it transitions to its updated version. Whether you’re a die-hard Remy fan or a first-time visitor, the 3D experience is a memorable way to cap off four years of Disney magic.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has earned its place as one of EPCOT’s most inventive attractions. The switch from 3D to 2D does not diminish the ride’s appeal—it simply updates it for a smoother, visually refined experience. But for those who have long awaited the chance to “shrink down” alongside Remy in 3D, today represents a last hurrah.

So, grab your Disney friends and family, head to the France Pavilion, and enjoy this one final ride in 3D before the attraction steps into its next chapter of culinary adventure.
