Mickey’s PhilharMagic Indefinitely Closed, New Reports Surface for Guests at Disney World

An early celebration has arrived at Magic Kingdom as Mickey’s PhilharMagic reportedly reopened ahead of schedule, surprising guests who were preparing for a longer downtime. The beloved Fantasyland attraction was slated to close temporarily on November 1, 2025, with Disney initially confirming plans for a brief refurbishment expected to last about three weeks. November 23 was the original reopening date, with seat replacements reportedly part of the scheduled updates.

Instead, the doors opened on November 18—six days early—allowing guests an unexpected chance to enjoy the 3-D adventure once again. However, the official Walt Disney World Resort website still lists the attraction with “no times available,” leaving some visitors curious about showtimes even after reports confirmed the reopening.

Mickey’s PhilharMagic has held a special place at Magic Kingdom since its debut in 2003, when it took over the space once home to The Legend of the Lion King. The show has remained a guest favorite for decades, led by Donald Duck’s chaotic journey after borrowing Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat.

With appearances from Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, and The Little Mermaid, the show blends animation, 3-D visuals, and memorable musical moments. One of its most popular effects is the apple pie scent released during the “Be Our Guest” sequence, adding another layer to the experience. In 2021, the attraction received a notable enhancement for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary with the addition of Coco’s “Un Poco Loco.”

PhilharMagic’s refurbishment is part of a broader wave of updates happening throughout the resort. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently undergoing a major track and effects overhaul, while Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed since August for upgrades that include new ride vehicles, enhanced laser blasters, and a new character, “Buddy.”

For travelers visiting in mid-November, the early reopening is an exciting bonus. Whether you’re drawn to classic Disney melodies or just appreciate a surprise return, PhilharMagic’s encore performance offers a welcome return to the theater.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
