Guests visiting Magic Kingdom this fall will soon notice a shift in the park’s entertainment lineup.
Disney has confirmed that Mickey’s PhilharMagic, the long-running 3D musical attraction in Fantasyland, will close on November 1.

The Magic of Mickey's PhilharMagic
First introduced in 2003, Mickey’s PhilharMagic took over the Fantasyland Theater from The Legend of the Lion King. The show spotlighted Donald Duck, whose antics with Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat sent audiences swirling through Disney’s animated history.
Classic moments from Beauty and the Beast (1991), The Little Mermaid (1989), and Peter Pan (1953) unfolded in immersive 3D, with theater effects heightening the spectacle. The apple pie aroma and Champagne sprays during “Be Our Guest” quickly became a fan-favorite detail, cementing the attraction’s reputation as more than just another movie-based show.
In 2021, Walt Disney World celebrated its 50th anniversary by updating the attraction with a new segment from Coco (2017). The “Un Poco Loco” sequence introduced Pixar characters for the first time, refreshing the production without losing its nostalgic core.

The show’s influence also spread globally. Versions of Mickey’s PhilharMagic exist at Hong Kong Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Disney California Adventure. The Anaheim edition is currently closed for its own refurbishment, highlighting a broader Disney effort to keep the attraction fresh worldwide.
Closures Sweep Walt Disney World
Mickey's PhilharMagic's downtime adds to a growing list of closures across Walt Disney World. However, at least in the case of Mickey’s PhilharMagic, the closure will be brief. Disney plans to reopen the attraction on November 23, just in time for Thanksgiving crowds.
A notice on the Disney World website reads: “Mickey's PhilharMagic will be temporarily closed beginning November 1 for routine refurbishment and is expected to reopen later in the month.”
Elsewhere in the park, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a Magic Kingdom staple since 1980, is in the midst of a long-term refurbishment. Imagineers are replacing the track and adding new effects, with the ride not expected to reopen until 2026.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin also remains closed. The Tomorrowland shooter ride is receiving redesigned vehicles, upgraded laser blasters, and a new character named Buddy, with a reopening scheduled for next year.
Earlier this year, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island permanently closed to make way for Magic Kingdom’s upcoming Cars land expansion. Concept art for the Piston Peaks National Park area has generated debate, balancing excitement for Pixar with disappointment over the loss of Frontierland’s waterways.
Animal Kingdom is undergoing changes, too. Kali River Rapids closed this week for refurbishment and will remain down until December, limiting ride options in that park’s Asia section. With the partial permanent closure of DinoLand U.S.A., the last remaining attraction in that area is DINOSAUR.
