Confirmed: Disney’s Fort Wilderness Set for MASSIVE Change in 2026

Fort Wilderness has always been a favorite for guests looking for a quieter, more natural way to experience Disney World. Between the campfire sing-alongs, wooded trails, and charming cabins, the resort is a breath of fresh air. Now, Disney is taking that atmosphere and enhancing it with a major upgrade to one of the most popular amenities: the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool.

According to the latest update, the pool area is undergoing a significant expansion that will bring new features, more space, and extra ways for guests to enjoy their time outside the parks. At the center of the project is an all-new zero-entry pool, designed to sit directly beside the current Meadow Swimmin’ Pool. This new pool is expected to double the amount of room guests have to swim and relax, which is especially important during busy travel seasons.

The zero-entry design offers a smoother, more accessible entry point that works well for younger kids, older adults, or anyone who prefers a gradual walk into the water. It’s an upgrade that matches the modern amenities found at newer Disney resorts, while still feeling right at home in the rustic Fort Wilderness setting.

But the improvements don’t stop at the water. The expansion also includes plans for a tennis court and two pickleball courts, giving guests more activities to choose from on warm Florida days. Pickleball continues to grow in popularity, and adding dedicated courts is a great fit for a resort full of guests who enjoy spending full days outdoors.

Disney has already confirmed that construction is ongoing and that the project should wrap up by mid-2026. That means some temporary construction noise and limited pool deck seating may be noticeable during stays, but Disney is keeping both pools—the Meadow and the Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool—open throughout the process. Guests will still have access to plenty of swimming options while the work continues.

When the new recreation area finally opens, Fort Wilderness guests can expect a more spacious, more comfortable environment designed with families in mind. The expanded pool deck, added sports courts, and more flexible layout will make the Meadow area an even more popular hangout spot.

This upgrade reflects Disney’s continued investment in refreshing and improving the resort experience. And at a place as beloved as Fort Wilderness, the finished product will be worth the wait.
