Walt Disney World Resort has updated its official entertainment calendar, confirming that a festive offering that is typically exclusive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will join the daytime lineup at Magic Kingdom Park later this month.
For most of the year, seasonal entertainment tied to after-hours events never appears in the daytime lineup. Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular remain exclusive to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Disney’s Hollywood Studios keeps Disney Holidays in Hollywood and “What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along” limited to Disney Jollywood Nights.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has traditionally been the one exception. After the final Christmas Party of the season, Magic Kingdom Park begins sharing select entertainment with daytime guests as crowds intensify. This practice has become an annual strategy to help manage the surge during the week between Christmas and New Year’s, a period when theme park reservation availability often reaches capacity across Walt Disney World Resort.
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade Joins Daytime Lineup
Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed the return of Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade to the daytime entertainment schedule beginning December 22. The shift occurs immediately after the last Christmas Party of the year, allowing regular Magic Kingdom Park guests to experience a longstanding holiday favorite without needing an after-hours ticket.
According to Walt Disney World Resort, the parade will follow its traditional route from Frontierland to Main Street, U.S.A., at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily from December 22 through December 31, 2025. During this time, the Festival of Fantasy Parade will step out of rotation and return on January 1, 2026. The Magic Kingdom will still offer its nighttime electrical parade, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, with two performances scheduled each evening.
Expect Holiday Crowds at Magic Kingdom
Guests hoping to secure a parade viewing spot should expect limited space and heavy congestion. The week between Christmas and New Year’s routinely draws some of the largest attendance numbers of the year, and 2025 is projected to follow that pattern. Both the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT have a history of reaching capacity during this period, making early arrival essential for viewing Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade.
