Marvel fans are buzzing again, and this time it’s centered on Deadpool. A recent report has sparked renewed chatter that the Merc with a Mouth could appear in Avengers: Doomsday (2026). Nothing has been officially announced, but the way these clues are surfacing feels intentional. If the speculation proves accurate, Wade Wilson may finally step into Marvel’s biggest crossover event yet.
Deadpool’s Staying Power in the MCU
Deadpool wasn’t supposed to work—at least not on paper. An R-rated superhero with no filter felt like a gamble, but Marvel leaned into it. The result was one of the most successful and distinct franchises in the MCU.
That success didn’t fade with time. Deadpool’s appeal lies in his refusal to follow the rules, and fans have been eager to see how that energy would clash with Marvel’s more traditional heroes. For years, the character hovered just outside the Avengers orbit, close enough to tease but never commit.

Why the Avengers Need Deadpool Energy
As Marvel expanded its interconnected storytelling, the absence of Deadpool from major team-ups became harder to ignore. Fans didn’t just want another standalone film—they wanted chaos inside the Avengers machine.
That’s what makes the idea of Deadpool appearing in Avengers: Doomsday (2026) so intriguing. Avengers films thrive on character conflict, and Deadpool practically exists to disrupt structure. His presence would instantly change the dynamic.
A Multiverse Trial Run That Worked
Marvel finally tested that idea in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). The film leaned heavily into Multiverse storytelling and delivered a lineup of surprises.
Hugh Jackman returned as Wolverine. Channing Tatum appeared as Gambit. Wesley Snipes showed up as Blade, Jennifer Garner returned as Elektra, and Chris Evans surprised audiences as Johnny Storm, revisiting his role from Fantastic Four (2005). These appearances weren’t just fan service—they felt like Marvel testing the audience's appetite for larger-scale crossovers involving Deadpool.
The response suggested Marvel may be onto something.

Expanding the Playing Field
Now the speculation has moved beyond legacy characters. Instead of Deadpool only interacting with Fox-era heroes, fans are imagining him colliding with the MCU’s next wave.
Picture Deadpool alongside the Thunderbolts. Imagine his commentary on the new Fantastic Four. Or consider what would happen if he crossed paths with Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. That kind of interaction could finally deliver the Avengers-level crossover fans have wanted for years.
The Report Behind the Buzz
The latest report claims Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool could return as early as 2026 in Avengers: Doomsday (2026), alongside X-Men characters like Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Cyclops (James Marsden).
Speculation intensified when scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus reacted on X to a rumored list of fight sequences. In response to a Reed Richards versus Nightcrawler matchup, Perez suggested Mr. Fantastic was battling the “wrong mutant,” followed by a Deadpool GIF. When asked to clarify, Perez posted another Deadpool GIF and added, “I know, right.”
It wasn’t direct confirmation, but the implication was hard to miss.

Mixed Signals Are Nothing New
Deadpool’s potential involvement with the Avengers has surfaced before. Earlier reports suggested he would appear in multiple MCU projects, including Avengers: Doomsday (2026), though the scale of his role remained unclear.
Marvel has already confirmed Channing Tatum’s Gambit will return following Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). Insider Daniel Richtman has also reported that Deadpool will play a “major role” in Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), appearing alongside Wolverine and Spider-Men portrayed by Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland.
Reynolds has denied stepping foot on the Avengers set—but Marvel fans have learned to take those denials lightly.

What This Means Going Forward
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) hinted that the TVA is pulling heroes from across the Multiverse for a much larger mission. If Deadpool’s most significant role is being saved for Secret Wars (2027), Doomsday (2026) could serve as his introduction to that team.
That also raises questions about tone. Deadpool doesn’t fit neatly into traditional constraints, and his inclusion could push Marvel to take bigger risks in future Avengers films.
Whether Deadpool officially joins the team or simply brushes past it, his presence alone could shift the MCU in unexpected ways—and fans are clearly ready for it.
