Last month, Walt Disney World Resort created chaos for vacation planners by dramatically altering which restaurants accept Disney Dining Plan credits in 2026. The company removed approximately 35 dining locations from the program in late December, then spent early January issuing corrections and reversing decisions after Disney Park guests discovered their favorite restaurants—including all Starbucks locations—had been eliminated from the package.
Understanding the Disney Dining Plan
Walt Disney World Resort offers two dining plan options for guests staying at Disney Resort hotels. The Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan delivers two Quick-Service meals, one snack or non-alcoholic drink, and one Resort-Refillable Drink Mug per guest, per night of stay. The standard Disney Dining Plan provides one Quick-Service meal, one Table-Service meal, one snack or non-alcoholic drink, and one Resort-Refillable Drink Mug per guest, per night. Neither plan covers checkout day.

Gratuities aren't included in meal credits, and restaurants may automatically add gratuity charges for large parties. Certain premium menu items require additional payment beyond standard credits. Guests need MagicBands, credit cards, or other payment methods to handle unexpected charges.
Meal credits accumulate based on reservation length but can be used flexibly. A guest with the Disney Dining Plan could spend two Table-Service credits in a single day, then use two Quick-Service credits the following day without restriction.
Each meal includes an entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage. Guests over 21 can substitute alcoholic beverages, such as beer, wine, or cocktails, for the non-alcoholic option. Children aged three through nine must order from the kids' menu, where available. Character Dining experiences and Dinner Show venues often require two Table-Service credits per person. Purchasing a dining plan doesn't guarantee restaurant reservations, which remain subject to availability.

Resort-Refillable Mugs work exclusively at Disney Resort hotels for the duration of your stay. The mugs cannot be used at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney Springs, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, or Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. Self-service beverage stations exist at all Disney Resort hotel Quick-Service venues. Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and select other hotels also offer Coca-Cola Freestyle machines.
The Deluxe Dining Plan—which previously offered multiple Table-Service meals and snacks daily, plus Resort-Refillable Mugs—hasn't returned since it was discontinued years ago. Walt Disney World Resort also eliminated the ability to convert unused meal credits into three snacks or beverages.
December Shock: 35 Restaurants Disappear

Guests booking 2026 Disney Resort hotel packages received access to the updated Disney Dining Plan restaurant list in December. Families who strategically planned vacations around specific dining experiences discovered devastating news—approximately 35 restaurants across Walt Disney World Resort had been removed from the 2026 program.
Some restaurants returned with new limitations. The Patina Restaurant Group, which operates multiple venues at EPCOT and Disney Springs, imposed restrictions at four locations. The Edison at Disney Springs now accepts dining plan credits exclusively for dinner service. At EPCOT, Tutto Italia limits plan holders to lunch while Via Napoli restricts them to dinner only.
The removals affected venues throughout the property, leaving guests scrambling to adjust dining strategies or potentially pay out-of-pocket at restaurants they expected to access with plan credits. Many families held off making 180-day advance dining reservations while waiting to see which restaurants would accept their packages.
First Correction Wave Reinstates 20 Locations

Walt Disney World Resort acknowledged errors on January 2 by quietly adding 20 restaurants back to the dining plan. It also updated a mistake regarding Terralina Crafted Italian at Disney Springs.
The company's website initially stated that the restaurant would only accept the Disney Dining Plan for lunch. The page was later corrected to show the restaurant accepts plan holders for both lunch and dinner services.
Starbucks and Landry's Restaurants Restored
Later in January, Walt Disney World Resort issued a second round of corrections, reinstating even more venues that had been incorrectly removed. All Starbucks locations returned to the 2026 dining plan alongside multiple restaurants owned and operated by Landry's.

Landry's owns several Table-Service restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort, including both Rainforest Cafe locations—one at Disney Springs and another at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park—as well as T-Rex Cafe at Disney Springs.
Starbucks operates eight locations across Walt Disney World Resort, including two standalone venues at Disney Springs, as well as themed coffee houses integrated into Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The temporary removal of all Starbucks locations would have been particularly devastating for guests who rely on dining plan snack credits for their daily coffee fix.
Uncertainty Remains for 20+ Venues

Despite two rounds of corrections, more than 20 restaurants remain excluded from the 2026 Disney Dining Plan. Walt Disney World Resort hasn't communicated whether these removals are intentional or represent additional errors awaiting correction.
