Seven Bullets in the Night: Terrifying Disney World Uber Shooting Highlights Rising Safety Concerns

For millions of visitors, Walt Disney World is the “Most Magical Place on Earth”โ€”a carefully curated sanctuary where the outside worldโ€™s problems are kept at bay by a “Disney Bubble” of high-tech security and impeccable service. However, a terrifying incident reported this week has served as a sobering reminder that the safety of the Disney experience often ends the moment a guest steps into a rideshare vehicle and leaves the property.

On January 1, 2026, what should have been a routine end to a magical day turned into a life-threatening nightmare for one Orlando Uber driver. Following a trip that originated near EPCOT, the driver was spat on and shot at seven times over a dispute involving a tip and an extended stop.

The Incident: Seven Shots Over a Tip

According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, the violence erupted following a ride that began on Disney property. The victim, a dedicated rideshare driver, picked up a customerโ€”identified by investigators as 21-year-old Alexis Encarnacion Rosadoโ€”from the Disney area late in the evening.

During the journey, the passenger requested a waypoint stop at a Denny's on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, where he remained for nearly 30 minutes. When the trip resumed, the driver suggested that the passenger tip more to compensate for the extended wait. The request allegedly triggered a violent outburst.

Deputies report that Rosado became agitated, shouting insults and spitting in the driverโ€™s face before exiting the vehicle near Greenway Road and Sanchez Drive in Kissimmee. As the driver attempted to pull away, he heard “loud pops.” Rosado had allegedly pulled a firearm from a backpack and discharged seven rounds into the back of the driver's 2012 Hyundai Elantra. Miraculously, the driver was not struck by the gunfire, though his vehicle was riddled with bullet holes.

The Arrest: Tracking “Mr. OG”

The investigation moved swiftly thanks to digital footprints left behind in the “Disney Bubble.” Detectives utilized emergency requests to Uber to track the trip data, which linked the account name “Mr. OG” to a phone number and email address belonging to Rosado.

Rosado, who was already on felony probation through 2028, was apprehended and booked into the Osceola County Jail. He now faces a laundry list of felony charges, including:

  • Shooting into an occupied vehicle
  • Discharging a firearm in public
  • Possession of a weapon by a convicted felon
  • Battery
  • Felony criminal mischief

Safety at Disney World: Where the “Bubble” Ends

Disney World is famous for its “Invisible Security.” Within the parks, violent crime is statistically near-zero, thanks to an army of plainclothes officers, biometric scanners, and thousands of cameras. However, this incident highlights the vulnerability of the “transition zones”โ€”the rideshare pickup points at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), the resort lobbies, and the outskirts of Disney Springs.

Once a guest enters a private Uber or Lyft, they are no longer under the protection of Disneyโ€™s security apparatus. They are in a private space where the unpredictable nature of the “real world” takes over.

The Phenomenon of “Theme Park Rage”

While there is no excuse for violence, industry experts point out that the high-stress environment of a 2026 Disney vacation can lead to what is known as “Theme Park Rage.” With the rising costs of Lightning Lane Premier Passes and the pressure to maximize every minute of a multi-thousand-dollar trip, tempers can flare over the most minor inconveniences. In this instance, a simple dispute over a tip acted as the spark for a life-threatening explosion of violence.

Conclusion: Protecting the Magic

The shooting of an Uber driver over a tip dispute stands in stark contrast to the values of the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” While Disney cannot control every individual who utilizes third-party transportation, the incident serves as a call to action for increased patrol presence in rideshare hubs and a greater focus on driver protection.

As we move forward into 2026, the goal for Disney and Central Florida authorities is clear: ensuring that the journey home is as safe as the time spent in the park.
