LGBTQIA+ Pride Will Not Be Celebrated at Disney World This June

Gay Days Orlando has canceled its 2026 event at Walt Disney World Resort, citing sponsor losses, changes to hotel agreements, and broader challenges facing LGBTQIA+ events nationwide.

The announcement on February 9 confirms the June celebration—which would have marked the event's 35th anniversary—will not proceed. The organization describes the decision as a “pause” rather than permanent cancellation, though the website confirms the 2026 event is officially cancelled.

Gay Days Orlando posted identical statements across its website and social media:

“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to pause the GayDays Orlando event scheduled for June 2026.
Changes to our host hotel agreement, the loss of key sponsorship support, and broader challenges currently impacting LGBTQIA+ events nationwide made it impossible to deliver the experience our community deserves. This is a pause — not an ending.
For more than 30 years, GayDays has been built by and for our community. Our focus now is on reimagining the future and returning with a stronger, more sustainable event.
We will share updates in the coming months as we shape the next chapter together. Thank you for your support, your patience, and for being part of the GayDays family. #GayDays #LGBTQCommunity #SeeYouSoon

A separate message on the website added:

“GayDays Family — it is with very heavy hearts that we share GayDays 2026 will not take place this year. This was an incredibly difficult decision and one that was only made after every possible option was explored. GayDays has always been more than an event — it is community, family, and a place where so many memories are made. While this pause is painful, it also gives us the opportunity to step back, listen, and begin shaping a stronger and reimagined GayDays for the future. Thank you for your continued love, patience, and support. This is not goodbye — it's a reset, and we look forward to creating the future of GayDays together.”

Gay Days Orlando launched in 1991. Walt Disney World Resort initially posted warnings alerting visitors they might encounter “homosexual” activity during their stay. The third-party event has since evolved into a celebration embraced by many Disney cast members, often coinciding with Pride Month offerings, including limited-time food items and Disney Pride merchandise.

  1. we have and it was very difficult, being straight with my wife and two young daughters and trying to explain some of the things they seen (its great to be who you are, but not to infringe on other peoples) Just being told we didn’t belong in WDW during the month of june!! truely shows that hatred , anger and such goes both ways even in the worlds happiest place

  2. THANK YOU DISNEY FOR AIDING IN CANCELLATION OF THIS EVENT/CELEBRATION !!!
Such and event IS NOT a family-friendly event for which Disney is known.

  3. Good. This Crap Doesn’t Belong In Disney.

Disney is a family oriented park. Not for personal lifestyles to be advertised.

  4. About time! This event never represented what Disney was founded on – a place where families could have fun together. It was never meant to be a place where sexuality was celebrated and paraded around. Be who you want to be, but keep it out of Disney.

  5. It is sad. Ppl come from ALL walks of life. I don’t care if a person is black, white or polka-dot. They are HUMAN. Just because they are gay doesn’t mean they can’t love Disney. Disney is magical. Disney doesn’t judge. But unfortunately ppl do ☹️ and that is sad – glad they didn’t cancel – and for anyone wondering- no I am not gay. But just because someone is gay doesn’t make them evil. And they are family- just not those who don’t “approve” – but they are family.
