Animal Crossing Takes Over Popular Orlando Location Starting Friday

While everyone is focused on SUPER NINTENDO WORLD at Universal EPIC Universe, Nintendo has quietly launched another Orlando experience: the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aquarium Tour at SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium, opening February 13 and running through April 30. If you’re visiting Orlando this spring and have Animal Crossing fans in your family, this is a must-see.

Located on International Drive between Disney World and Universal, ICON Park attracts tourists and locals alike with live music, themed restaurants, and attractions like the Orlando Eye and Madame Tussauds. It’s not a full theme park, but its vibrant atmosphere makes it ideal for limited-time events like this.

What Actually Happens Inside

The Animal Crossing tour is included with regular SEA LIFE admission, starting at $29 for adults and $24 for kids. Florida residents can get discounts, and ticket packages are available that combine SEA LIFE with Madame Tussauds and the Orlando Eye at ICON Park. Annual passes are also an option for locals or frequent visitors.

Meet and greets with characters like Isabelle, Tom Nook, and K.K. Slider are limited to three weekends: February 13-15, March 20-22, and April 3-5. For those who miss these dates, Animal Crossing elements will be integrated throughout the aquarium from February 13 to April 30, including character standees and educational descriptions written by Blathers, the game's curator.

There's also an Animal Crossing-themed stamp rally and opportunities to earn 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points at a kiosk. The gift shop features Animal Crossing merchandise for those looking for a memento of their visit.

Why This Location Makes Sense for Animal Crossing

ICON Park exists in this weird space where it's not trying to compete with Disney or Universal but still wants to capture some of that massive tourist audience flowing through Orlando. The Animal Crossing aquarium tour is a perfect example of how that strategy works.

Disney and Universal both have various Nintendo partnerships and licensing deals, but neither one currently features Animal Crossing in any significant capacity at their Orlando parks. That gap creates an opening for ICON Park to offer something legitimately different that still appeals to the exact same families visiting Orlando specifically for theme parks.

With SUPER NINTENDO WORLD at EPIC Universe still brand-new and drawing huge crowds, Nintendo awareness among Orlando tourists is at an all-time high right now. Families are already planning vacations around experiencing that land. The Animal Crossing aquarium tour capitalizes on existing Nintendo hype without the massive investment needed to build a permanent themed land.

The Limited-Time Animal Crossing Problem

The tour runs only through April 30, creating urgency for those wanting to experience it. The character meet-and-greet weekends are limited to only three over ten weeks, making coordination with spring break and other plans challenging.

The opening weekend from February 13 to 15 might see lighter or heavier crowds, while March 20 to 22 falls during major spring breaks, likely resulting in larger crowds. The final character weekend is April 3 to 5, before the tour closes. After Orlando, the tour will visit other aquariums across the U.S. through 2026, emphasizing its temporary nature and driving attendance.

How Animal Crossing Fits Into Your Trip

For families planning Orlando vacations around Disney World and Universal, the Animal Crossing tour at ICON Park is a convenient addition rather than a separate trip. Its proximity to the major resorts allows for easy access without wasting a day on travel. Visiting SEA LIFE in the evening after a day at the parks offers a refreshing change of pace, especially for families staying on International Drive.

With Epic Universe drawing large crowds, families between now and April will find that adding the Animal Crossing aquarium tour complements their Universal visit without requiring another full day of theme park admission. As vacation planning can be complex, this is a great option for Animal Crossing fans who will be in Orlando this spring, especially before character meet and greets or the tour itself sell out.
