Disney World May Cancel Popular Easter Tradition in 2026

For many Disney fans, the best seasonal surprises at Walt Disney World don’t always happen inside the parks. Sometimes they appear inside the resorts themselves.

Over the past few years, one of the most charming spring traditions has taken place inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. But in 2026, that tradition may be facing an uncertain future.

Guests visiting the resort recently noticed that something important is missing from the lobby—and it has sparked questions about whether Disney may be canceling one of its newer Easter celebrations.

The Rise of the Grand Floridian Easter Display

In 2022, Disney introduced the Grand Cottage inside the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The colorful structure resembles a whimsical cottage decorated for spring and serves as a temporary snack stand filled with Easter treats.

The cottage quickly became a seasonal attraction in its own right.

Visitors riding the monorail loop often stop by the Grand Floridian just to see the display, grab a themed dessert, and take photos. Around the cottage, Disney pastry chefs typically create elaborate chocolate Easter eggs that function as decorative showpieces.

These handcrafted displays often feature incredible detail and creativity, transforming the lobby into a celebration of spring.

Over time, the cottage began to feel like a natural extension of Disney’s famous holiday gingerbread displays.

Fans Are Noticing Its Absence

Normally, preparations for the Grand Cottage begin weeks before Easter.

But as Easter approaches in 2026, there have been no signs of the display being assembled inside the Grand Floridian lobby.

That has caught the attention of returning guests who know exactly where the cottage usually appears.

Cast Members have reportedly offered mixed answers when guests ask about the display’s status. Some say it may be delayed, while others believe the cottage may not return at all this year.

While Disney has not confirmed any official changes, the lack of visible preparation has already sparked speculation.

Why the Cottage Might Not Return

There is a possible explanation behind the missing Easter display.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been undergoing updates to its lobby and interior spaces over the past few years. These updates have already affected other seasonal displays at the resort.

During the 2025 holiday season, the famous gingerbread house was absent due to construction work in the lobby.

Because the Grand Cottage requires significant space and installation time, Disney may have decided to skip the display this year while adjustments to the resort continue.

If that’s the case, the tradition may simply be paused rather than permanently canceled.

Still, until Disney confirms the reason, the missing display is leaving room for plenty of speculation.

Easter Celebrations Still Continue

Even if the Grand Cottage does not appear in 2026, Easter celebrations across Walt Disney World will still continue.

Seasonal desserts, spring-themed treats, and limited-time menu items typically appear across the parks and resorts throughout the season. Character appearances and themed merchandise also help mark the holiday.

Additionally, the Grand Floridian has historically displayed elaborate chocolate Easter egg creations crafted by Disney’s pastry team. These displays may still appear even if the cottage itself does not.

In other words, Easter magic will still be present—just potentially in a different form.

A New Disney Tradition at Risk

What makes the situation interesting is how quickly the Grand Cottage became a fan favorite.

Despite only debuting a few years ago, it already feels like part of the resort’s seasonal calendar. For many visitors, it has become a springtime counterpart to the famous holiday displays Disney is known for.

That’s why fans are paying attention to whether it returns this year.

If the display ultimately does not appear for Easter 2026, it may signal that Disney is rethinking how it handles seasonal celebrations at the Grand Floridian.

Or it could simply be a temporary pause while construction work continues.

For now, Disney fans waiting for the return of the pastel cottage will have to keep watching the Grand Floridian lobby—and hope that this beloved Easter tradition isn’t quietly disappearing.
