Marvel Introduces a Dangerous New MCU Enemy for Spider-Man

Marvel fans are getting closer to the next adventure for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is just months away from hitting theaters, and excitement around the movie continues to rise.

Ever since Marvel announced the film, fans have focused on one major question: which villains will appear?

Spider-Man stories thrive on their rogues’ gallery, and the MCU version of Peter Parker has already battled a wide range of enemies. With Brand New Day preparing to launch a new phase of the character’s life, many viewers expect the villain lineup to grow even larger.

Peter’s situation has changed dramatically since his last appearance.

By the end of his previous film, Peter lost everything. The world forgot who he was, his closest friendships disappeared, and the Avengers safety net vanished. That moment pushed Spider-Man into a completely new era.

Now he must fight alone.

Looking Back at Holland’s Spider-Man Trilogy

Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man built its story across three major solo films.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) introduced Peter as a young hero still trying to prove himself. His main enemy in that film was Adrian Toomes, the Vulture, who used alien technology to create dangerous weapons.

Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) followed Peter as he struggled with the emotional aftermath of Avengers: Endgame (2019) across Europe. During that journey, he faced Mysterio, a villain who relied on illusions to deceive the world.

Everything escalated in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). After Mysterio exposed Peter’s identity, Peter turned to Doctor Strange for help. The attempt to fix things instead opened the Multiverse.

That mistake brought in several iconic villains from earlier Spider-Man franchises. Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and the Lizard all entered the story.

In the end, Peter made the painful decision to erase himself from everyone’s memory to repair the damage.

Brand New Day Could Bring a Crowd of Villains

Spider-Man: Brand New Day looks ready to build on that emotional reset.

Marvel has begun hinting that Peter Parker could face several enemies at once. While the movie’s main villain remains unknown, early reports suggest the roster of opponents may grow larger than usual.

Even as one of the MCU’s youngest heroes, Spider-Man has already confronted powerful enemies across multiple films and Avengers battles tied to Thanos.

Brand New Day may raise the stakes again.

Some villains rumored for the film operate at the street level as mercenaries or criminals. That approach would bring Spider-Man back to a grounded New York setting.

At the same time, other rumors point toward something far more unpredictable. One particularly surprising possibility is that Mark Ruffalo could appear as the Savage Hulk.

Merchandise Reveals Two New Villains

One of the first glimpses of Brand New Day villains came through merchandise connected to the film.

The items revealed two comic book characters: Boomerang and Tarantula.

Boomerang, whose real name is Fred Myers, once played professional baseball before becoming a mercenary. In the comics, he uses an arsenal of deadly boomerangs designed for different types of attacks.

Tarantula, also known as Anton Miguel Rodriguez, is a South American mercenary who wears a spider-themed costume. Unlike Spider-Man, he has no enhanced abilities and relies on combat training.

Both characters represent the more grounded side of Spider-Man’s enemies.

Several Other Villains Could Appear

Beyond Boomerang and Tarantula, rumors suggest even more villains could join the story.

Chameleon continues to appear in fan discussions thanks to his ability to disguise himself as anyone. Another possibility is that Harry Osborn or Ned Leeds becomes a villain, creating a personal challenge for Peter Parker.

Other rumored names include Ramrod, the unusual villain 8-Ball, and the Punisher.

Meanwhile, speculation continues that Savage Hulk could appear if Mark Ruffalo returns to the role.

Marvel has not confirmed most of these rumors, but the growing list shows how ambitious the movie could become.

Two Villains Are Currently Confirmed

At the moment, two villains are technically confirmed for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Mac Gargan, also known as Scorpion and played by Michael Mando, appeared briefly in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and hinted that he wanted revenge.

Lonnie Lincoln, the crime boss known as Tombstone and played by Marvin Jones III, also joins the story.

With Peter Parker now living in a world that no longer remembers him, the next Spider-Man film may test the hero like never before. If the growing villain lineup becomes reality, Spider-Man could face the biggest challenge of his MCU career.
