Disney Introduces Unexpected Change To Struggling Avengers Campus

Change is coming to Marvel’s presence inside Disney’s theme parks — though not in the way many fans might expect.

For several years, Avengers Campus has served as Disney’s primary attempt to translate the Marvel Cinematic Universe into a physical environment. The land blends live performances, character encounters, and technology-driven attractions, aiming to create a setting that feels active rather than fixed.

Visitors have consistently praised the energy of roaming superheroes and stunt shows. At the same time, both versions of Avengers Campus have drawn criticism for limited attractions, heavy reliance on screens, and storytelling that can feel loosely connected.

Those concerns have followed the land across continents.

Avengers Campus first opened at Disney California Adventure in 2021, replacing A Bug’s Land. A second version debuted at Disneyland Paris in 2022, forming part of a broader effort to expand and modernize Walt Disney Studios Park.

Each iteration offers a slightly different lineup. In California, guests can experience WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!. Paris features Avengers Assemble: Flight Force and Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure, alongside rooftop stunt performances and frequent character appearances.

Despite those differences, feedback has remained broadly aligned.

Rather than adding a new attraction, Disney is now making a smaller adjustment that shifts how guests interact with the land.

Deadpool will return to Avengers Campus from March 28 through July 15, 2026, with a new live offering that places him at the center of a guest-driven performance.

The character previously appeared in connection with Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024. During that run, he was largely confined to rooftops, delivering commentary and interacting with guests from a distance.

The new format brings him into the crowd.

Deadpool will host a live show within the land, inviting guests to take part and respond in real time. The change introduces a repeatable form of entertainment and expands the role of characters beyond brief encounters.

It also reflects a direction Disney has already tested elsewhere.

In 2025, Story Time with Deadpool returned to Disney California Adventure during the holiday season, featuring the character in a more structured, interactive setting alongside Wolverine.

This latest update will take place at Disneyland Paris, just ahead of a significant moment for the park. Walt Disney Studios Park is set to relaunch as Disney Adventure World on March 29, bringing new lands, attractions, and entertainment offerings.

Among them is World of Frozen, anchored by Frozen Ever After, alongside Raiponce Tangled Spin and a central hub known as Adventure Bay. A new nighttime show, Cascade of Lights, will round out the expansion.

Early previews have highlighted familiar challenges.

Frozen Ever After has experienced periods of downtime, with long queues forming when the attraction is operational. The park has historically struggled with capacity, and it remains unclear how much the new additions will ease demand.

Within that context, smaller updates carry more weight.

Live entertainment can help distribute crowds and provide alternatives when rides are unavailable. Deadpool’s return offers a flexible addition that can operate throughout the day without the constraints of a major attraction.

The contrast with California is becoming more pronounced.

At Disney California Adventure, Avengers Campus is set to double in size through a major expansion that will introduce two new attractions — Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.

No equivalent project has been announced for Paris.
