Disney has been playing it close to the chest with Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets for months. Small teases here, vague timelines there, just enough to keep the conversation going without actually saying anything. That changed this week. Disney opened the curtain, started dropping song confirms one at a time, and the second reveal just landed. It is a good one.
The Song Nobody Expected But Everyone Should Have
“Born To Be Wild” is officially on the setlist. The Steppenwolf classic is getting the full Electric Mayhem treatment, which means guests riding Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets could find themselves launching from zero to 57 miles per hour with one of rock history's most recognizable opening riffs blasting through the speakers.
It fits. The whole premise of the ride is a high-speed race across Hollywood to get the band to their concert on time. “Born To Be Wild” was practically written for that scenario.

The version riders will hear is not a straight cover. Camilla the Chicken has been confirmed as a featured performer on this track. Anyone who has watched enough Muppets content to know Camilla's relationship with Gonzo and her deeply committed approach to performance art will understand immediately why that detail is funnier than it sounds on paper. The clucking is coming. It is going to be part of the experience whether you are ready or not.
The Disney Ride Itself
For the uninitiated, the new attraction is built around a storyline set inside G-Force Records, now under Muppet management thanks to Scooter's uncle J.P. Grosse. The Electric Mayhem is meant to be across town, headlining their biggest concert ever. Instead, they are stuck in the recording studio with a team of penguin audio engineers, jamming when they should be performing.
Guests board a Muppet-themed limousine and race across Hollywood to close the gap. Each limo plays a different song from the setlist, a direct callback to how the original Aerosmith version operated. The design gives the attraction something that most theme park rides do not have out of the gate, a built-in reason to ride it multiple times in the same day and get something different each time.
“Song 2” by Blur was confirmed earlier in the week as the first track. “Born To Be Wild” is the second. The full setlist drops Thursday, April 16.
What Thursday Actually Means
Disney does not do full setlist reveals in a vacuum. The music is the creative core of this attraction. Locking it in publicly is one of the last major steps before an opening date becomes something Disney is willing to say out loud.
Sources have pointed to Memorial Day weekend as the internal target for the attraction's debut at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Disney has only committed publicly to a Summer 2026 opening. But the pace of this week's announcements, combined with visible progress on the exterior and entrance areas of the attraction, paints a picture of a project in its final stretch rather than its middle stages.
The ride system is unchanged from the original. The track layout is the same. What Imagineering has been rebuilding is the story, the queue, the pre-show, and the full sensory experience inside the attraction. That work appears to be wrapping up.
The Larger Muppets Moment at Disney
It would be a mistake to look at this ride announcement in isolation. Disney launched a Muppets-themed merchandise collection on TikTok Shop earlier this week, giving the platform early access before items hit the shopDisney website. The collection featured Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo. The timing was not a coincidence.
Disney is building something around The Muppets right now. The ride is the centerpiece, but the merchandise drops, the song reveals, and the countdown to Thursday all point to a coordinated push for a franchise that has not had this kind of spotlight in years.
Thursday's announcement will tell us how close the finish line actually is. Based on everything that has happened this week, it does not feel far.
