Disney Drops First Hint at Muppets Coaster Soundtrack Ahead of Summer Opening

There’s been a lot of change happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios lately, but one update is starting to stand out more than the rest. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is getting a full reimagining, and now we finally know when guests can expect to ride it again.

The new version, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, is scheduled to open later this summer. And while the track itself remains the same, the experience surrounding it is being completely rebuilt.

This time, the spotlight shifts to The Muppets—specifically Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Instead of a straightforward concert storyline, guests are dropped into a situation that quickly spirals out of control. The band is supposed to perform, but they’ve gone missing, and everything turns into a frantic attempt to get them to the stage.

It’s a simple premise, but it works. The Muppets have always thrived on chaos, and that energy fits naturally with a high-speed coaster. Rather than just riding along, guests feel like they’re part of something that’s constantly on the verge of falling apart.

Before even boarding the ride, the experience begins in the queue. The space is being redesigned into a recording studio environment, now operated by The Muppets themselves. That alone changes the tone. Instead of a sleek, serious setup, the area is expected to feel busy, colorful, and just a little unpredictable.

Characters like Scooter are trying to keep everything moving, while the rest of the crew creates distractions along the way. It adds a layer of entertainment that wasn’t there before and gives guests something to enjoy even before the ride starts.

Once you’re on the coaster, the intensity doesn’t change. The fast launch, twists, and turns are all still there. But now, the ride is framed as a high-speed trip across Hollywood, with the band’s music driving the experience.

That music is one of the biggest question marks right now. Disney has teased that a full track list reveal is coming, and fans are already speculating about what songs could be included. Whatever the final lineup looks like, it’s clear the soundtrack will be a major part of the ride’s identity.

This transformation also reflects a bigger shift happening in the park. Hollywood Studios has been evolving into a place where Disney’s own characters take center stage, and this change continues that trend.

At the same time, it helps diversify the park’s attractions. Not every thrill ride needs to feel intense and serious, and this one leans into something more fun and character-driven.

With a summer opening approaching, the countdown is officially on. This isn’t just a simple update—it’s a full reimagining of a fan-favorite ride.

And if everything comes together the way Disney is planning, it could end up feeling like a completely new attraction built on top of a classic foundation.
