What Universal Orlando Resort Is Not Telling June Visitors Could Ruin Your Trip

Every theme park has ride closures. That is not a controversial statement, and it is not specific to Universal Orlando Resort. Refurbishments, technical updates, and extended maintenance are part of operating a complex mechanical entertainment destination, and they happen everywhere all the time. The difference between a closure that ruins a vacation and a closure that gets factored into the plan is almost always whether the guest knew about it before they arrived or found out when they were standing in front of a closed sign.

Universal Orlando Resort has multiple ride closures scheduled across June at both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, and most guests visiting this month are going to find out about at least one of them at the park rather than before they leave home. Here is the full list so that does not happen to you.

Islands of Adventure

Jurassic Park River Adventure is the most significant closure at Islands of Adventure and, arguably, the most significant at the entire resort right now. The attraction has been closed since January 5, 2026, and will not reopen until November 19, 2026. That is not a short refurbishment. That is an extended closure that covers the entire summer and all of fall and does not end until nearly winter. For guests whose June visit was planned partly around riding one of Islands of Adventure's most beloved classic water attractions, that information is unfortunately not changing. November 19 is the date, and June is not close to it.

Pteranodon Flyers closed February 27, 2026, and is scheduled to reopen July 2, 2026. The reopening is one day after June ends. One day. Guests visiting on June 30 will miss it. Guests arriving on or after July 2 will find it open. For families whose visit straddles the June-July boundary, it is worth monitoring the current status as the date approaches, in case the timeline shifts slightly in either direction.

The Me Ship The Olive, the Popeye ship walkthrough in Toon Lagoon, closed May 26, 2026, for a short refurbishment and reopened June 9. Guests in the park during the first week of June will find it closed. Anyone arriving after June 9 should be fine.

Universal Studios Florida

Men in Black Alien Attack is closed from June 1 through June 26—nearly the entire month. The attraction is one of the most popular classic experiences at Universal Studios Florida, and guests who were planning to ride it on a June visit have a 26-day window where that is not possible. The scheduled reopening is June 26, so guests visiting in the final few days of the month may find it operational. Still, anyone arriving before that should remove it from the itinerary.

The Horror Make-Up Show closed May 12, 2026, for an update and will reopen sometime in late 2026. No specific date has been announced. June visitors should not plan around it being available, as there is no set date.

Po's Kung Fu Training Camp and the Po Live show both closed May 18, 2026, and will remain closed through July 3, 2026. Both will be unavailable for every day of June. Families who were anticipating either of the DreamWorks Kung Fu Panda experiences at Universal Studios Florida should note that neither will be operating during a June visit.

The Good News for Universal

Epic Universe has no closures scheduled for June and is fully operational. For guests who have not yet been to the resort's newest park the June closure situation at the older parks is actually a reasonable argument for prioritizing Epic Universe on the days when closed attractions would otherwise have been the plan.

Volcano Bay also has no closures scheduled for June. The water park is fully operational for the month.

The Short Version

Jurassic Park River Adventure is closed until November. Men in Black is closed most of June. Po's Kung Fu Training Camp and Po Live are closed all of June. The Horror Make-Up Show is closed indefinitely. Pteranodon Flyers misses June by one day. The Me Ship The Olive reopens June 9.

Epic Universe and Volcano Bay are fully open.

Read this before you go. Adjust the plan accordingly. The trip will be better for it.
