Walt Disney World Golf does not get talked about enough in the broader Disney conversation, and that has always been a mild injustice given what the Magnolia course in particular offers. It is the longest of the three Walt Disney World Resort courses, designed in classic tour style with elevated tees, spacious greens, wide fairways, and 11 of 18 holes featuring water hazards that punish anything less than strategic thinking. It underwent an extensive reimagining in 2023, adding new teeing grounds, redesigned bunkers, re-contoured Bermuda grass greens, and Disney-themed names for all 18 holes, borrowed from classic Disney films. The most significant addition from that overhaul was Grumpy's Gauntlet, the demanding four-hole stretch spanning holes 14 through 17 named for the famously pessimistic dwarf from Snow White.
The gauntlet had the name. Now it has something to go with it.
The Statue
Disney just unveiled a brand new Grumpy statue at the Magnolia Golf Course, positioned at the entrance to Grumpy's Gauntlet beside the 14th tee. The placement is perfect. Golfers who are about to take on the most demanding stretch of the course now have a moment to acknowledge the character whose name defines what they are walking into before committing to the first shot.
The statue is worth more than a quick glance and a photo. There are details hidden within it that reward the kind of attention that Disney fans are very good at paying.
Grumpy is holding a 7-iron. That is not a random club selection. It is a deliberate tribute to his fellow dwarfs, the seven of them, with the number embedded into the choice of iron in a way that is subtle enough to miss on a quick pass and satisfying enough to find if you are looking. Also on the statue is a vintage-style golf ball featuring the year 1937, honoring the release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Disney animated classic that introduced Grumpy to audiences nearly ninety years ago and that remains one of the most significant films the studio ever produced.
The 7-iron and the 1937 golf ball are the kind of Easter eggs that turn a photo stop into a conversation and that give the statue a reason to exist beyond the purely decorative. Someone thought carefully about this.
⛳😠There’s a new resident at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course… and he doesn’t look very happy!

The Golf Merchandise
A new line of Grumpy's Gauntlet merchandise has launched alongside the statue. Themed golf balls, towels, pin flags, and long-sleeve shirts are available featuring Grumpy and his iconic warning that there is trouble a-brewin'. For guests who complete the gauntlet and want something to commemorate the experience, the merchandise collection offers options specific to this section of the course rather than generic Walt Disney World Golf branding. The pin flags, in particular, are the kind of item that has a natural home in the collection of anyone who takes their Disney golf seriously.
The Context
Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is currently closed for a lengthy renovation project that began earlier this month. With that course unavailable, the Magnolia is carrying more of the Disney golf load than usual. A new character statue, a new merchandise line, and a dedicated photo opportunity arriving during the Lake Buena Vista closure give Magnolia guests something genuinely new to discover while the broader Disney golf situation works through its renovation timeline.
The Magnolia course is located near the Magic Kingdom toll plaza and is accessible from select Walt Disney World Resort hotels via complimentary taxi transportation. Tee times can be reserved online or by calling the Golf Master Starter at 407-939-4653. Golfers are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before their tee time.
Grumpy is at the 14th tee holding a 7-iron with a 1937 golf ball at his feet and four of the hardest holes at Walt Disney World Golf waiting ahead. The photo opportunity is there, and the hidden details are worth finding before the gauntlet begins.
There is trouble a-brewin' on holes 14 through 17. Grumpy has been warning people about it since 1937.
