There’s almost always something changing at Walt Disney World these days.
Guests have watched major attractions close, entire lands transform, resorts get updated, and restaurants receive refreshed concepts. Even Disney Springs has stayed in a near-constant state of evolution as Disney works to keep the shopping and dining district feeling modern.
Now, another popular Disney Springs location has officially shut its doors temporarily.

Columbia Sportswear, located in the Town Center area of Disney Springs, is now closed for refurbishment and is expected to reopen near the end of July 2026. The closure is part of a remodeling project that includes a new storefront along with updates to lighting, fixtures, paint, and wall finishes.
For casual visitors, this may sound like a relatively minor update. But for frequent Disney Springs guests, it’s another sign that Disney continues investing heavily in keeping the district competitive and appealing.
Disney Springs is very different from what it used to be.
Back during the Downtown Disney years, the area mainly served as an extra nighttime activity after guests finished visiting the parks. Today, though, Disney Springs has become a destination all on its own.
Visitors spend entire evenings there shopping, dining, and exploring. Some guests even skip the parks completely and choose Disney Springs as their primary Disney experience during shorter vacations.
That shift has made appearance and presentation much more important.
Town Center, where Columbia Sportswear is located, was one of the most significant additions during Disney Springs’ large-scale transformation several years ago. The section brought in recognizable retail brands and introduced a cleaner, more upscale atmosphere that felt very different from the older sections of the district.

Since then, Disney has continued refining the overall experience.
Stores receive upgrades. Restaurants rotate menus. Entertainment offerings change regularly. Disney Springs constantly feels like it’s trying to stay fresh rather than becoming stagnant.
This latest refurbishment fits directly into that strategy.
Columbia Sportswear has become a fairly popular stop for guests looking for outdoor apparel and vacation-friendly gear. Considering Florida weather can shift from brutal heat to sudden rainstorms within minutes, many tourists end up shopping for lightweight clothing, hats, jackets, sandals, or rain protection during their trip.
Its temporary closure could become especially noticeable during the busy summer season.
Summer crowds at Disney Springs can be overwhelming at times. Parking garages routinely fill up during evenings, and popular stores often stay crowded well past sunset. Indoor shopping locations become even more valuable during the hottest afternoon hours when guests look for air conditioning and a break from the parks.
Now, one more shopping option is temporarily unavailable.
The good news is that Disney does not appear to be planning a long-term closure. Current expectations point toward a reopening later this summer once construction wraps up.
And honestly, Disney fans have seen far worse timelines recently.
Many projects across Walt Disney World now stretch for months or even years. Compared to some of the larger transformations happening elsewhere on property, this refurbishment should move fairly quickly.

Still, it reflects a much larger trend happening across Disney World right now.
Disney seems fully committed to modernizing nearly every part of the resort. Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland is undergoing massive changes. EPCOT continues evolving years after its overhaul first started. Disney’s Hollywood Studios keeps adding new experiences and entertainment offerings.
Disney Springs is simply part of that larger movement.
The company clearly understands how important the district has become to the overall vacation experience. Guests expect newer lighting, polished storefronts, updated interiors, and modern retail spaces that feel current.
That expectation has only grown as Disney Springs competes with other Orlando entertainment destinations for tourists’ time and money.
For now, Columbia Sportswear guests will need to wait until later this summer before stepping back inside the refreshed location.
But if Disney’s recent update projects are any indication, the remodeled store will probably look noticeably different once those construction walls finally come down.
