Disney World Restricts Character Meet and Greet to Just Sundays at EPCOT

A special character offering at EPCOT has gained an unexpected wrinkle, and Walt Disney World Annual Passholders may want to take note before planning their next visit.

This year’s V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days event has given Passholders plenty of reasons to spend extra time at EPCOT. Alongside access to the exclusive Passholder Lounge inside Restaurant Marrakesh, guests can pick up limited-time merchandise, enjoy special discounts, collect a new Toy Story magnet, and purchase an event-exclusive popcorn bucket.

Among those benefits is a dedicated character greeting experience located inside the Magic Eye Theater in World Celebration. Operating daily from May 1 through July 31, the venue originally welcomed Chip ’n’ Dale in their Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary costumes.

The appearance marked a notable return for the pair’s anniversary outfits, which many fans believed had been retired after “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” came to an end. The greeting location, situated near Journey Into Imagination with Figment, has since become a popular stop for Passholders looking for experiences unavailable to regular day guests.

But there is now another reason fans are making the trip.

Donald Duck and Daisy Duck have joined the rotating lineup, appearing in their own 50th Anniversary costumes. Donald wears the familiar anniversary jacket and vest seen during the celebration, while Daisy appears in her coordinating dress accented with gold details. Their addition gives guests another chance to see a piece of Walt Disney World’s recent past brought back to life.

The opportunity comes with a significant limitation.

Reports from WDWNT indicate that Donald and Daisy are only scheduled to appear on Sundays. On every other day of the week, Chip ’n’ Dale remain the featured characters meeting Passholders at the location. That means guests arriving Monday through Saturday should expect to encounter the chipmunks rather than Disney’s famous duck couple.

The character greeting remains open daily between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. through July 31, but the Sunday-only schedule transforms Donald and Daisy’s appearances into one of the more difficult-to-catch offerings of the entire V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days event.

With Disney continuing to refresh elements of the seasonal celebration throughout the summer, the limited availability of Donald and Daisy adds another incentive for Passholders to choose their EPCOT visit dates carefully. For those hoping to see the pair in their anniversary costumes, Sunday is currently the only day to make it happen.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
