Overnight, Disney Springs Opens New Area for Disney World Guests

The empty plaza on the West Side of Disney Springs, the former home of the food trucks that closed earlier this month, has finally gotten some attention from Walt Disney World Resort.

WDWNT shared a photo on Sunday of the former food truck courtyard at Disney Springs, now outfitted with several metal tables and chairs — most shaded by patio umbrellas — along with additional trash cans positioned throughout the space. The installation transforms what had been a noticeably empty outdoor area into a functional seating zone for the West Side of the shopping, dining, and entertainment district.

A wide walkway to the waterfront runs through the middle of the space, so the new furniture doesn't make the area feel too crowded. The combination of shaded and unshaded seating makes the courtyard considerably more usable during the punishing Central Florida summer heat, giving guests a place to sit down with food and drinks that doesn't require finding an open table inside a restaurant.

The new outdoor seating area effectively extends the dining capacity of nearby locations. Walt Disney World Resort guests picking up a meal, snack, or drink from Pepe by José Andrés, Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew, Starbucks, or Disney's Candy Cauldron now have a shaded outdoor option to retreat to when indoor tables are taken.

Walt Disney World Resort made no public announcement about the change, or whether a more permanent replacement for the shuttered food trucks on the West Side of Disney Springs is in the works. Follow Disney Fanatic for updates on this and other changes at Disney parks around the world!
