Construction along the Rivers of the Far West in Disneyland Paris Resort's Frontierland is finally reaching a visible milestone.
The Bison Scene Is Going In
X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DLPWorks shared a detailed update on June 15 documenting the current state of construction along the riverbank:
[Analysis] 🚧🦬 The bison scene is being installed at Riverboat!!
➡️ The 4th scene added to the banks of Riverboat is currently being installed. It will depict three bison watching prairie dogs emerging from their burrows.
➡️ Visible from the Molly Brown, the gravel excavation work has begun. The cavity that will be used to bury the statues' supports is covered with a tarp held down by stones.
➡️ The placement of the figurines corresponds to that shown in the concept art from #DisneylandParis. The deer scene has not undergone any visible changes since last week.
➡️ The installation of the 4 new scenes is scheduled for the end of summer 2026.

The excavation work now visible from the river marks the beginning of the physical installation for what will eventually be the fourth and final new scene added to the Rivers of the Far West. Three bison watching prairie dogs emerge from their burrows will populate the completed vignette, bringing to life original concept art by Disney Imagineer and Disney Legend Marc Davis.
A Year in the Making
Disneyland Paris Resort first announced plans to add four new scenes along the Rivers of the Far West banks last year. The scenes draw directly from Davis's original concepts and include not just the bison and prairie dog grouping but also raccoons and a skunk at play on a floating tree trunk. Work on the earlier scenes began earlier this year, with the bison installation now the final piece of the project moving into its active construction phase.
Disneyland Paris Resort has targeted the end of summer 2026 as the completion window for all four scenes.
Guests Can Watch the Progress From the River
The overnight construction schedule means Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing remains open throughout the project, and European Disney Park guests boarding the recently refurbished Molly Brown riverboat can catch glimpses of the work in progress as the boat makes its way along the Rivers of the Far West.
