CONFIRMED: Disney Set to Completely Reshape BoardWalk Resort

Disney's BoardWalk is about to look different.

Over the past few years, longtime restaurants and nightlife spots have disappeared from the Disney World hotel and its attached waterfront, replaced by a new mix of dining, shopping, and entertainment.

Sitting between EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, the BoardWalk has long attracted visitors who aren't even staying there. Its waterfront restaurants, bars, and live entertainment have made it a destination in its own right.

Now, Disney has outlined what's next.

Disney Announces New Additions for BoardWalk

Several new experiences will begin opening at Disney's BoardWalk Resort in late 2026, according to Disney.

The headline addition is Hurly-Burly, a waterfront lounge inspired by historic seaside theaters.

During the day, it will host trivia and family games. At night, the venue will switch to live music for guests aged 21 and older.

The opening fills a gap left by Jellyrolls, which closed in April 2025 after nearly 30 years at the BoardWalk. The dueling piano bar later announced plans to reopen in Lake Buena Vista outside Walt Disney World.

Disney said Hurly-Burly will serve coastal-inspired cocktails and light bites alongside a rotating lineup of live performers.

Another familiar name is also coming to the resort.

Basin, which already operates at Disney Springs, is opening a BoardWalk location. Alongside soaps, bath bombs, body butters, and bath salts, guests will be able to make custom bath teas, create their own soaps, and use a soap embossing press to personalize purchases.

Disney said the store's design will match the BoardWalk's vintage seaside style.

Years of Change Continue at Disney's BoardWalk

The latest announcements add to a growing list of changes across the BoardWalk.

ESPN Club closed in 2022 after more than two decades. Big River Grille & Brewing Works followed, with Jellyrolls becoming the latest longtime tenant to leave.

New businesses have steadily taken their place.

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs expanded to the resort, while The Cake Bake Shop opened after much anticipation. The restaurant has since sparked debate among guests over its prices and faced multiple employee lawsuits alleging wage theft.

Disney also confirmed another project is on the way.

A new quick-service restaurant is planned for Disney's BoardWalk Resort. Disney said more information will be announced later this summer.

The news comes as Walt Disney World prepares to introduce new transportation rules elsewhere on property.

Later this month, guests traveling from Disney Springs to Disney Resort hotels by bus or Sassagoula River Cruise will need a valid Disney Resort hotel reservation, MagicBand, room key, or qualifying dining or Enchanting Extras reservation before boarding.

Some fear similar restrictions could eventually reach the FriendShip Boats serving the BoardWalk, although Disney has not announced any plans to expand the policy.
