Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed what many guests feared after last holiday season: one of the most beloved annual traditions at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the life-size Gingerbread House, is gone for good.
The End of an Era at the Grand Floridian

Beginning in 1999, Walt Disney World Resort's pastry team constructed a life-size Gingerbread House for the holiday season in the grand Victorian lobby of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The structure became as synonymous with a Walt Disney World Christmas as Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party or the EPCOT Candlelight Processional — a destination in its own right that drew guests from across the resort simply to see it and purchase handmade holiday treats from Disney cast members stationed inside.
When the Gingerbread House failed to appear during the 2025 holiday season — amid active lobby renovations that included the installation of The Perch, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa's new birdcage-shaped lobby bar — most guests treated the absence as a temporary concession to construction. Walt Disney World Resort quietly let that assumption stand…until now.
The Official Confirmation

On June 24, theme park journalist Scott Gustin reported that Walt Disney World Resort had confirmed the life-size Gingerbread House would not be returning:
The Grand Floridian gingerbread house will not return this holiday season. Instead, Disney's culinary teams will create new miniature holiday displays for the resort. More details, including details about gingerbread displays at other resorts, will be shared later this year.

The announcement arrived midweek, during what had otherwise been a celebratory stretch of holiday news from Walt Disney World Resort, including updates on Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom Park and Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
What Takes Its Place

The life-size Gingerbread House will be replaced by miniature gingerbread displays crafted by Walt Disney World Resort's pastry teams — both at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and at other Central Florida Disney Resort hotels. Details about what those displays will look like and where they'll be located haven't been released yet, with the resort promising more information later this year.
What remains unclear is whether the handmade gingerbread treats and other holiday pastries that guests traditionally purchased from inside the Gingerbread House will be available elsewhere in the Grand Floridian lobby during the 2026 holiday season.
