Epic Universe already represents the next chapter for Universal Orlando Resort, but that hasn't stopped fans from looking even farther ahead. The new park was built with the future in mind, and with space available for expansion, conversations have naturally shifted toward what could eventually fill those areas.
Universal hasn't revealed its long-term plans beyond the park's current lineup. Still, one idea keeps resurfacing among longtime fans: a portal dedicated to the classic films that helped establish Universal as one of Hollywood's most recognizable studios.
Expansion Leaves Plenty of Possibilities
Epic Universe wasn't designed as a park frozen in time. Before it opened, Universal executives explained that the destination could continue growing well into the future. Its layout leaves room for additional development, whether through expanding existing worlds or introducing entirely new portals.
As construction and infrastructure work continue around the resort, fans have become even more curious about what those future projects might include. Universal has remained quiet about any new lands, but the available space has encouraged no shortage of speculation.
Among all the concepts floating around online, one continues to generate excitement because it feels both nostalgic and unique.

A Portal Inspired by Universal's Legacy
Imagine approaching a portal with a glowing marquee welcoming guests back to the movies that made Universal famous. A simple phrase like “Gotta Get Back in Time!” would immediately set the tone for an area celebrating decades of blockbuster filmmaking.
Instead of immersing guests in a single franchise, this land could combine several beloved properties into a shared experience. That approach would make it unlike any other area inside Epic Universe, where each existing portal focuses on a single world.
The idea also answers something many longtime fans have wanted for years. Universal owns an impressive collection of classic franchises, yet several of them no longer have permanent attractions inside the parks. Bringing them together in one destination could celebrate the studio's past while introducing those stories to a new generation.

Classic Franchises Could Return in a Big Way
One attraction almost writes itself.
Back to the Future could anchor the land with a thrilling DeLorean-racing adventure that sends guests speeding through different eras while they try to outmaneuver Biff. Advances in ride technology could transform the franchise into an experience unlike anything possible decades ago.
Just a short walk away, Ghostbusters could finally receive a major attraction.
Guests could step into the role of Ghostbusters themselves, using interactive proton blasters to capture spirits throughout the ride. Inspired by the gameplay of Men in Black Alien Attack, the attraction could feature changing ghost encounters to keep every ride feeling different.
Of course, it's hard to imagine a celebration of Universal's history without Jaws.
Rather than recreating the original attraction exactly as fans remember it, Universal could offer a fresh interpretation of the classic film. A modern boat adventure or an immersive dark ride through Amity Island could bring Bruce back with today's special effects and animatronics.
Each attraction would blend nostalgia with new technology, giving longtime fans something familiar while offering younger guests an entirely new experience.

Beyond the Attractions
A retro-themed portal could offer much more than rides.
Lou's Cafe from Back to the Future would make a natural quick-service restaurant, complete with themed décor and menu items inspired by Hill Valley. Nearby, a Slimer-operated snack stand could serve colorful frozen drinks and desserts that fit perfectly with the playful spirit of Ghostbusters.
Shopping opportunities could be just as exciting. Guests could browse shelves filled with replica Ghost Traps, proton packs, DeLorean collectibles, Amity Island souvenirs, and apparel celebrating Universal's classic films.
Character appearances would make the area even more memorable. Marty McFly, Doc Brown, the Ghostbusters, Captain Quint, and Chief Brody could all become regular sights throughout the day, giving guests another reason to spend time exploring the land.

Fans Can Dream for Now
For now, a retro-themed portal remains exactly that—a fun idea. Universal has not announced an expansion centered on Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Jaws, or any other legacy franchise at Epic Universe.
Still, the concept continues to capture fans' imaginations because it feels like a natural extension of what Universal has already been doing. The company has spent recent years celebrating its history while building a park designed to grow over time.
Whether it happens years from now or never moves beyond fan discussions, a land honoring Universal's biggest movie classics would undoubtedly rank among the resort's most talked-about additions.
