Disney World Is Quietly Reshaping Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney Springs Before July

With just a few days left before July arrives, Walt Disney World guests should start taking a fresh look at their vacation plans. Summer crowds are already building, and the new month brings several updates that could affect where you eat, what you ride, and even which nighttime shows you'll see.

Whether you're visiting for the Fourth of July holiday or later in the month, these changes are worth knowing before you walk through the gates.

Fourth of July Celebrations Take Over the Parks

Disney always goes big for Independence Day, and this year is no different.

Magic Kingdom will pause Happily Ever After for three nights as Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky takes over the evening schedule. The patriotic fireworks spectacular will be presented from July 3 through July 5.

At EPCOT, guests won't lose the regular nighttime show. Luminous: The Symphony of Us will still be presented before the park adds Heartbeat of Freedom, a patriotic fireworks finale celebrating the holiday.

These limited-time offerings often attract large crowds, so arriving early for a viewing spot is a smart idea.

A Magic Kingdom Classic Is Closing

Carousel of Progress is entering another major chapter.

Beginning July 6, the attraction will close for an extended refurbishment that is expected to continue into 2027. For generations of Disney fans, the attraction has remained one of Tomorrowland's signature experiences, making the days leading up to the closure especially significant.

Anyone hoping to experience it should make plans sooner rather than later.

Extra Park Time Continues for Eligible Guests

Disney will also continue offering Extended Evening Hours during July.

Available to guests staying at Deluxe Resorts and select participating hotels, the benefit allows visitors to remain inside Magic Kingdom or EPCOT after the parks officially close to day guests.

With shorter wait times on many attractions, the perk remains one of the biggest advantages of staying at qualifying Disney hotels.

Disney Springs Adds a New Attraction

Summer visitors will also find something brand new waiting at Disney Springs.

LEVEL99 recently opened inside the former NBA Experience building, bringing a completely different entertainment option to Walt Disney World's shopping and dining district.

The interactive venue combines physical activities with puzzle-solving experiences, making it another option for families looking to spend an evening outside the theme parks.

Dining and Shopping Changes Continue

Several familiar locations will remain unavailable as July gets underway.

Big Top Souvenirs continues its refurbishment in Storybook Circus, while La Signature inside EPCOT's France Pavilion also remains closed.

Later in the month, Grand Floridian Cafe is expected to begin its own refurbishment. Guests planning breakfast or brunch won't be left without options, however, since Disney plans to relocate brunch service to Citricos during the closure.

Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace also remains closed, leaving Trader Sam's Grog Grotto as the primary destination for guests looking to enjoy the popular Polynesian-themed lounge.

Disney's Future Is Taking Shape

Construction continues to reshape multiple areas of Walt Disney World.

Magic Kingdom's Piston Peak National Park project remains one of the resort's largest active construction sites, while Animal Kingdom continues transforming the former Dinoland U.S.A. into Tropical Americas.

Although construction can occasionally affect walking routes and views, these projects represent some of Disney's biggest future additions.

July is almost here, and taking a few minutes to review these updates before your trip could make your vacation much smoother. From temporary closures and seasonal entertainment to major expansion projects, a little planning now can save plenty of time once you're inside the parks.
