A lawsuit stemming from one of the most talked-about viral moments in Disney Park history has been thrown out, and Walt Disney World Resort won't be paying a cent.

The incident that sparked the legal battle occurred on July 20, 2022, when the Aikals, the plaintiffs, were waiting in line for Mickey's Philharmonic in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. Another family reportedly “pushed or shoved” a member of their group, prompting the Aikals to flag down a Disney cast member and identify the offending party. The cast member separated the two families by directing one group through an alternate entrance and told the Aikals she would “take care of it.”

After the Mickey's Philharmagic showing ended, the Aikals alleged that the other family “appeared out of nowhere” and “quickly pounced” on them. The violent altercation that followed was captured on video and swept across the internet almost immediately. X (formerly Twitter) user @sweetisme3 preserved the original Facebook post at the time, writing:

This video of a Magic Kingdom fight posted on Facebook is crazy.
But I'm with the person who filmed this. Where is security??

Disney cast members radioed for backup and called 911, forming a human barrier around the brawl to protect nearby guests while they waited for deputies to arrive. Orange County Sheriff's Office officers arrived at the scene within minutes and escorted both families to a backstage security office. One person involved required hospital treatment for a facial laceration, and several guests reported damaged designer items and mobile phones.

The incident drew wider attention when police records revealed that one of the individuals involved was Elijah Richardson, an actor with credits in the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the Disney+ film Hollywood Stargirl (2022). One family member was arrested in the aftermath. Both families were banned from Walt Disney World Resort and were unable to finish their vacations.

Four Years Later, a Courtroom Decision

The Aikals subsequently filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney World Resort, alleging negligent security — arguing that Disney cast members had the ability to prevent the attack and failed to do so. Disney's legal position was that the violent incident was sudden, unforeseeable, and therefore outside the scope of any duty of care the resort owed its guests.

In May 2026, Walt Disney World Resort moved for a Summary Judgement, asking the court to dismiss the case before it ever reached a jury. On July 13, 2026, Circuit Court Judge Michael Deen agreed, issuing a Summary Judgement in favor of Walt Disney World Resort on every claim brought by the plaintiffs. The lawsuit was dismissed in its entirety, and Disney owes no settlement.
