For months, Marvel fans have been trying to figure out who Sadie Sink would play in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026).
Now, after the movie's release, the mystery has finally been solved.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Brand New Day the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which ended with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) casting a spell that caused the world to forget Peter’s identity, including MJ Watson (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon).
Now, Peter (Tom Holland) is “fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him” and comes face to face with “a powerful villain no one can even see,” according to Marvel’s official synopsis.
However, while fans were eager to see what came next for Holland’s Spider-Man, one of the biggest questions surrounding Brand New Day involved Sadie Sink.
The Stranger Things star joined the cast in a mysterious role, with Marvel keeping her character hidden throughout the movie’s marketing campaign. Now, we finally know who she is playing.

Sadie Sink officially portrays Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, introducing a new version of one of Marvel’s most important mutant characters.
Jean Grey has previously appeared on the big screen through Fox’s X-Men franchise, with Famke Janssen first playing the character in X-Men (2000). Janssen returned in X2: X-Men United (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), before making cameo appearances in The Wolverine (2013) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
Sophie Turner later portrayed a younger version of Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and Dark Phoenix (2019).
Sink’s introduction marks the latest step in Marvel Studios’ long-awaited mutant plans, with the studio now beginning to establish its own versions of iconic X-Men characters.
Whether Sink will return as Jean Grey in future projects remains unknown. She is not currently listed among the cast of Avengers: Doomsday (2026), despite the movie featuring several actors connected to Fox’s X-Men films.
However, Jean Grey’s arrival could have major implications for the future of the MCU.
