Could Disney's The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) be headed for another big-screen chapter?
In a new ad titled Walmart Presents: A Who Knew Carol, Walton Goggins (Ant-Man and the Wasp) takes on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, who was famously played by Michael Caine in the beloved 1992 film.
The ad also puts a new spin on the song “Scrooge,” with Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo the Great as Charles Dickens and the rest of the Muppet gang appearing alongside the actor.

The ad is part of Walmart's ongoing Who Knew campaign and was created in partnership with Disney and The Muppets Studio.
Walmart and the Disney Store have now both unveiled new merchandise tied to the film, but could the latest campaign point toward something more substantial? An official sequel or remake of the film hasn't been announced, but the possibility offers plenty for fans to imagine.

The Muppet Christmas Carol Lives On
When Brian Henson directed The Muppet Christmas Carol, he brought Charles Dickens' 1843 novella to life with the Muppets, a memorable soundtrack, and a story about the importance of generosity.
Released in 1992, the film has spent more than 30 years becoming part of many families' Christmas traditions.
Its enduring appeal extends well beyond the original movie, though. The film has inspired seasonal merchandise, including limited pin and plushie advent calendars that fans hurried to buy last year.
There's also The Muppet Christmas Carol: The Illustrated Holiday Classic, a storybook adaptation of the film.

The holiday favorite is also returning to concert venues in the UK this year, with The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert Live to Film giving audiences the chance to watch the movie while a live orchestra performs its score.
Fans who would rather enjoy the story at home can find The Muppet Christmas Carol on Disney+, along with an extended cut that restores “When Love Is Gone.”
