Walt Disney World has issued another set of revisions to its Magic Kingdom operating calendar, and the timing of these changes points to a deliberate strategy rather than routine scheduling maintenance.
Disney's earlier revisions set the framework now being built upon. On the first three scheduled dates of the 2026 Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party season — August 7, 11, and 14 — Magic Kingdom moved its Early Theme Park Entry window forward by 30 minutes, admitting eligible guests at 7:30 a.m. ahead of an 8 a.m. official opening, rather than the standard 8:30 a.m.
Alongside the hour changes, Disney introduced reduced Lightning Lane pricing on party dates, when Magic Kingdom closes to standard ticket holders ahead of the separately ticketed event. Lightning Lane Premier Pass, Multi Pass, and Single Pass pricing all reach their lowest points of the season on August 7, 11, 14, 18, and 21. On August 11, for instance, Premier Pass pricing falls to $359 from $379, Multi Pass to $29 from $32, and Single Pass pricing decreases to $12 for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (from $13) and $20 for TRON Lightcycle / Run (from $21).
A steeper reduction is set for August 23 and 25, both scheduled party dates, when Magic Kingdom's Premier Pass pricing will fall below the $300 mark to $299 per guest.
The latest update extends this framework across a continuous stretch of late-August dates, organized into three distinct categories.
Extended closing hours. August 17, 19, 20, and 22 have each had their Magic Kingdom closing time moved to 11 p.m., lengthening operating hours for standard ticket holders on four dates positioned between and around scheduled party nights. August 19 carries an additional benefit: guests staying at Deluxe Resorts, along with guests at select additional hotels, will have access to Extended Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom, running from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Adjusted Early Entry on party dates. August 18 and 21 have been added to the Early Theme Park Entry adjustment, opening at 7:30 a.m. in line with the treatment previously applied to the season's first three party dates. Both dates remain designated party nights, meaning standard ticket holders will still experience an early closure in exchange for the earlier opening. August 23 and 25, both of which carry evening Halloween parties, currently retain the standard 8:30 a.m. Early Entry time, though that arrangement may be revised as the dates approach.
A departure from the pattern. August 22 has also been granted 7:30 a.m. Early Entry, despite not being a scheduled party date. Combined with the newly extended 11 p.m. closing time, this creates a 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. operating window — an unusually wide margin by Magic Kingdom's typical summer standards, and the longest single-day window among the dates confirmed in this latest update.
The Lightning Lane pricing structure follows the same logic established earlier in the season, with the lowest price points continuing to fall on party dates within this newly confirmed group.
Disney has followed a consistent practice throughout the season of publishing conservative operating hours well in advance, then adjusting them closer to arrival dates once reservation and demand data becomes clearer. This approach limits the risk of overpromising while preserving flexibility to expand capacity where demand supports it.
What distinguishes this latest round of confirmations is that the adjustments are now moving in two directions simultaneously. Party dates receive an earlier opening and reduced Lightning Lane pricing to offset the early closure required for the event, while surrounding non-party dates are extended later into the evening to accommodate the resulting shift in demand.
August 15 and August 22 illustrate this most clearly. Assigning a 7:30 a.m. Early Entry window to a night without an accompanying party suggests Disney is positioning the dates surrounding party nights as functional capacity relief, rather than treating them as incidental scheduling.
Guests with travel dates between August 17 and 22 should revisit their existing plans. Four of those six dates now close at 11 p.m., and two have shifted Early Entry earlier. Itineraries built around previously published hours may be inaccurate by as much as an hour at either end of the day.
A 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. operating window on August 22, without an accompanying party closure, represents the most available touring time within this stretch of dates, and its non-party status makes it easy to overlook.
Party dates should be weighed against Lightning Lane savings. On August 18 and 21, the shortened day coincides with the season's lowest Lightning Lane pricing. Depending on the number of attractions a guest intends to book, this pricing may offset the reduced hours.
Dining and evening entertainment plans warrant reconsideration. An 11 p.m. closing time opens additional windows for dinner reservations and nighttime entertainment that were not previously available under the earlier schedule. Itineraries should remain flexible; given the frequency of hour changes throughout the summer, further revisions are likely up to one to two weeks prior to arrival.
This latest set of confirmations extends a pattern Disney has maintained throughout the summer, now applied to a continuous stretch of late-August dates rather than isolated instances. Rather than allowing the Halloween party season to reduce operating value for standard ticket holders, Disney appears to be restructuring both scheduling and pricing in tandem — extending hours where feasible, discounting pricing where hours cannot be extended, and expanding the operating window for dates positioned between party nights.
