Disney California Adventure Park has a new look this week. The overnight installation that greeted Southern California theme park guests on Wednesday morning signals that Oogie Boogie Bash season has officially begun at Disneyland Resort, even if the first event night is still two weeks away.
What Changed at Disney California Adventure Park Overnight
WDWNT reported on August 5 that Disneyland Resort had installed a sweeping wave of Halloween and Oogie Boogie Bash decorations throughout Disney California Adventure Park while guests slept, transforming the park's atmosphere well ahead of the after-hours event's August 18 opening night.
The centerpiece of the update is impossible to miss: the iconic Oogie Boogie sign now looms above the Disney California Adventure Park entrance, featuring the beloved villain from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) crawling across a backdrop of a full moon, skeletal tree branches, and grinning jack-o-lanterns. Guests departing the park see the installation from the other direction, where Oogie Boogie's silhouetted face fills the reverse side against the same glowing moon.
Inside the park, the Halloween atmosphere extends further. Stationary black bats now appear to swarm out of the tower crowning Carthay Circle Restaurant.
Oogie Boogie Bash Arrives August 18
The decorations mark the visual start of Oogie Boogie Bash 2026, which officially takes over Disney California Adventure Park on select after-hours nights from August 18 through October 31. Multiple dates have already sold out — including nearly every Sunday and Halloween night — but opening night and a wide range of weekday dates through August, September, and October remain on sale.
The event delivers limited-capacity park access, Disney Villains Grove, trick-or-treat trails throughout the park, Halloween-themed attraction overlays, rare and costumed character meet-and-greets, and exclusive entertainment.
One crowd favorite won't be returning this year: the Frightfully Fun Parade has been paused due to construction at Disney California Adventure Park. Instead, Disneyland Resort is filling that gap with a brand-new Haunted Mansion-themed street party debuting at the 2026 event.
