The beloved opening-day attraction has survived countless changes at Universal Studios Florida, outlasting dozens of rides while the park has transformed around it. Even so, rumors about its eventual closure have continued for years.
Now, Universal has delivered a response that couldn't have been much clearer.

The speculation only intensified after reports surfaced suggesting work could take place inside the attraction over the next few years.
A notice of commencement associated with the ride currently runs through late 2028, leading some fans to believe Universal may temporarily close E.T. Adventure in 2027 for an extensive refurbishment.
Universal has not confirmed those reports, and no closure has been announced.

Hollywood Rip Ride RockIt is gone, and construction has begun on Universal's new Fast & Furious coaster, with fresh track now visible on site.
Elsewhere, Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close on August 17 after August 16 marks guests' final opportunity to ride.
As for what eventually replaces Supercharged, Universal has remained silent. Fan speculation has pointed toward possible attractions based on Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, or JAWS, but none of those ideas have been confirmed.
For now, Universal's message about E.T. Adventure is the biggest takeaway. After years of uncertainty, the company itself has made one thing abundantly clear: the iconic attraction still has a special place at Universal Studios Florida.
