Construction at the Universal Studios Florida archway is still changing less than two weeks before Halloween Horror Nights 35 begins its regular run. Photos shared Wednesday by HHNSpeculationMatt on X show scaffolding and work equipment around portions of the landmark entrance, keeping attention on a refurbishment that has been underway as Universal Orlando Resort prepares for its biggest fall event.
The timing matters because the arch is more than a photo backdrop. It sits directly in the path guests use to approach Universal Studios Florida, where Halloween Horror Nights will run on select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026. Universal has not announced that the work will affect HHN entry, and the current construction does not establish that the arch will remain obstructed when regular event nights begin.

Universal Studios Florida Archway Work Is Still Visible
HHNSpeculationMatt’s August 19 update shows that the setup around the archway has changed, with scaffolding still visible as work continues. The work is part of the entrance-area repainting, but Universal has not published a completion date for the archway.
That distinction is important. There is visible construction at the entrance, but there is no official announcement saying Halloween Horror Nights 35 will open with a restricted front gate. There also is no confirmed statement that the refurbishment will be finished before August 28.
Inside the Magic previously covered the landmark’s evolving Universal Studios Florida archway presentation, while other work across Universal Studios Florida has continued ahead of HHN, including preparations around Revenge of the Mummy.

Halloween Horror Nights 35 Begins August 28
Universal’s official event calendar lists Halloween Horror Nights 35 for select nights from August 28 through November 1 at Universal Studios Florida. The resort is also offering a separately ticketed Premium Scream Night on August 27, meaning HHN-related guest traffic will reach the park one day before the regular event run begins.
That calendar creates a short runway for any remaining front-entrance work. Universal is advertising 10 haunted houses, scare zones and live entertainment, while its planning material encourages guests to arrive with tickets available in the resort app.
Inside the Magic has tracked the HHN build near Revenge of the Mummy, the final haunted-house reveal featuring Ozzy Osbourne and changes to Stay & Scream for HHN 35.

Why a Partially Blocked Entrance Could Matter
If scaffolding or construction walls remain in place for opening weekend, the central issue would be pedestrian flow rather than the appearance of the arch itself. Halloween Horror Nights requires Universal to move arriving guests toward the front gate while other eligible guests may already be inside the park through Stay & Scream procedures.
A narrowed approach can make wayfinding more important. That does not mean a bottleneck will occur. Universal has not issued a crowd warning tied to the Universal Studios Florida archway project, and no available official notice says entrance capacity will be reduced for HHN 35.
Still, team-member positioning, temporary signage and clearly separated paths would become especially important if construction occupies usable space. Those are logical operational considerations, not confirmed Universal plans. Guests should follow posted signs and team-member directions.
The resort already uses differentiated entry products during HHN. Certain hotel packages advertise priority entry at a dedicated Halloween Horror Nights gate, while Stay & Scream serves guests who are already inside Universal Studios Florida before the separately ticketed event begins. Inside the Magic has also reported on Universal’s broader crowd-control planning for HHN 35.

Universal Has Multiple Ways to Manage HHN Entry
The project arrives as Universal continues refining park access. Inside the Magic previously reported on changes to Universal Studios Florida guest access and digital ticketing processes.
For Halloween Horror Nights specifically, Universal’s official materials advise guests to use the resort app for tickets, maps and event information. That won’t remove a physical pinch point if one exists, but having admission ready before reaching the turnstiles can reduce avoidable delays at the final stage of entry.
Guests attending opening weekend should therefore watch Universal’s official channels and the app for any instructions. There is currently no announced alternate entrance caused by the archway work, so visitors should not plan around an unconfirmed reroute.

What to Watch Before Opening Weekend
The most important development now is whether the scaffolding and construction footprint shrink, disappear or remain as HHN approaches. Premium Scream Night is scheduled for August 27, followed by the first regular Halloween Horror Nights 35 event night on August 28.
Until Universal announces otherwise, the repainting work should be treated as an active construction observation, not evidence of an HHN delay or confirmed entrance restriction. The event itself remains scheduled, and Universal’s official Halloween Horror Nights page continues to sell and promote admission for the 2026 season.
For guests, the practical question will become clearer over the next several days: how much of the normal approach to the Universal Studios Florida archway is available when event crowds arrive? If the work remains, Universal’s on-the-ground crowd management will matter from the moment guests reach the park. If the scaffolding comes down before August 27, the concern may disappear before HHN 35’s first guests ever encounter it.
