It has been more than a decade since Rockstar Games released a brand-new Grand Theft Auto game. On November 19, that wait will finally come to an end.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch after years of anticipation, delays, trailers, leaks, and speculation. The first trailer for the game arrived in December 2023. A second trailer followed in May 2025, when Rockstar announced a May 26, 2026 release date before subsequently pushing the game back to November. Watch the latest trailer for the game here:
The enormous popularity of the franchise means this is unlikely to be an ordinary video game launch. GTA V (2013) has sold approximately 230 million copies, while previous installments have become cultural events that reach far beyond the traditional gaming audience.
Now, Rockstar is already beginning to ramp up its marketing campaign again. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on August 27 before becoming available through Rockstar's YouTube channel and its official website.
But there's something particularly interesting about where players will be spending their time.
GTA VI is set in Leonida, Rockstar's fictional version of Florida, with Vice City at its center. Players will be able to explore areas beyond the city, giving them a sprawling and deliberately exaggerated take on the Sunshine State. And, of course, Florida is also home to Disney Parks.
That has prompted speculation about whether Rockstar has included a parody version of Disney World in the game. Nothing has been confirmed, but fans have been discussing the possibility for years.
Even without a fictional Disney World, however, GTA VI could present an unusual challenge for Disney Parks: it will give millions of people a reason to spend their free time in a digital version of Florida instead.
People have taken time off work for previous Grand Theft Auto launches, demonstrating just how much attention the series can command. A local who might otherwise visit Disney Parks could instead spend their evenings exploring Leonida.
Of course, that doesn't mean GTA VI will cause attendance to fall. There are far too many factors involved, including the fact that mid-November brings us to the height of the holiday season — one of the busiest times of year for Disney Parks worldwide. But when one of the biggest entertainment releases in history arrives, park attendance is certainly worth watching.
