Something unusual is happening during Universal Halloween Horror Nights this year: one of the event's most recognizable horror icons is seemingly absent.
Michael Myers has appeared at Halloween Horror Nights before, with Universal previously turning John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) into haunted-house experiences for guests. But when the 35th anniversary of HHN begins at Universal Studios Florida on August 28, the Shape won't be among the characters waiting in the darkness.
Instead, Michael Myers will be “coming home”… to your home.

Halloween: The Game arrives on September 8, 2026, putting the iconic killer at the center of a new interactive horror experience.
Developed by IllFonic, the studio behind Friday the 13th: The Game, the asymmetrical game is based entirely around Carpenter's original Halloween. That means its release lands right in the middle of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights season, which runs on select nights through November 1.
And this isn't simply another horror game arriving at the same time as HHN. Players can become Michael Myers himself, stalking their opponents across Haddonfield, or attempt to survive the night as one of the Heroes of Haddonfield. A standalone single-player story also allows players to experience the events surrounding “The Night He Came Home” from Michael's perspective.
In other words, horror fans who were hoping to spend time with The Shape this Halloween season have an entirely different option.
That doesn't mean Halloween: The Game is going to empty Universal Studios resorts. Halloween Horror Nights offers something a video game cannot: elaborate physical sets, live scare actors, haunted houses, themed entertainment, food, and the atmosphere of being surrounded by thousands of other people who have willingly entered the same nightmare.
Whether anyone actually chooses the controller over the haunted houses remains to be seen.
