Construction is becoming a familiar sight around EPCOT once again, and one World Showcase pavilion is currently dealing with several projects at the same time.
Over at the Germany Pavilion, guests are finding closures, construction walls, and exterior work across several buildings. One of the most noticeable projects has already reached an important stage, as aging portions of the pavilion's roofing are being replaced.
It's not the kind of project that will completely change EPCOT, but it does show Disney continuing to address aging areas of the park. And soon, EPCOT could have much bigger construction projects underway.
Germany Pavilion Replacement Moves Forward
Das Kaufhaus has been undergoing an exterior refurbishment for roughly a month, and crews have now replaced its old roofing with new red-and-brown diamond shingles.
The work extends beyond a single building. Other roofs throughout the Germany Pavilion are receiving similar replacements. Some remain hidden behind brown scrim, while completed portions are already showing off the new shingles.
The project appears to have been needed. Before the replacements, several sections of roofing showed signs of rot and damage.
Disney hasn't announced when all of the roofing work will wrap up, so guests should expect construction to remain visible around the pavilion for now.
Closures Continue at EPCOT
Roofing isn't the only work affecting this corner of World Showcase.
The Germany Pavilion restrooms have been closed since mid-July and remain surrounded by construction walls. Disney hasn't announced a reopening date.
Volkskunst Clocks and Crafts also remains closed, while other refurbishment work has been taking place around the pavilion.
Stein Haus has been undergoing exterior work since late June. Meanwhile, Weinkeller remains open, although the construction has affected how guests move through the area.
The Germany Train Garden has received some attention, too. Recent additions include Snow White's cottage and, interestingly enough, a reference to Dreamfinder.
That addition comes just as Disney has revealed much bigger plans involving the classic EPCOT character.
Bigger Changes Are Coming to EPCOT
Disney recently confirmed that Spaceship Earth will receive its first major update in nearly 20 years.
The upcoming reimagining will expand the attraction's focus beyond human communication and explore the broader idea of human connection. Disney has not announced when Spaceship Earth will close for the work or when the updated attraction will debut.
Another major change is coming to Journey Into Imagination with Figment.
Disney has confirmed that Dreamfinder will finally reunite with Figment for a new adventure. It's a major development for longtime EPCOT fans who have wanted to see the character return for years.
Again, Disney hasn't provided specific dates.
We expect Spaceship Earth to undergo its overhaul first, with the Figment project following afterward. Until Disney provides a construction schedule, however, that timeline remains an expectation rather than something officially announced.
For now, EPCOT's more immediate work is happening in places like the Germany Pavilion. Fresh roofing is replacing aging and damaged sections, while closures and refurbishment work continue below.
It may be a smaller project, but EPCOT could look much different once Disney moves from these routine replacements to the major attraction overhauls waiting on the horizon.
