The 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival opened on August 27. A lounge was closed, the coffee lineup was not pouring, and five booths were nowhere to be found.
Some context.
Look, opening day is supposed to be the whole reward. Fresh menus, nothing reviewed yet, full merch racks, and you get to be the person telling everybody else what to order. People plan entire trips around day one for exactly that reason.
Now picture showing up to the 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival on opening day and finding a shuttered lounge, a drink menu nobody is serving, and multiple Global Marketplaces that will not exist for weeks.
That is what happened.
The festival opened on August 27 and runs through November 21. This is the thirtieth year of the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT, and it raises expectations rather than lowers them.
What Guests Said
The posts started within hours of the park opening.
“Apparently the Florida Blue Lounge for Epcot's Food and Wine festival is closed,” wrote Threads user kates_takes. “It's opening day of the fest and things do not seem ready today. Joffrey's fest coffees are not available today either which is a bummer.”
Two separate problems in one post.

The Coffee Nobody Could Get
Joffrey's actually put together a solid festival lineup this year. All four drinks new. All four built on Joffrey's Affogato-flavored Cold Brew with oat milk, spread across four spots in the park:
- Affogato alle Mandorle Cold Brew, almond syrup, whipped cream, toffee nut sauce, at The American Adventure
- Dolce Affogato Cold Brew, sugar cane syrup, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, near Disney Traders
- Notte di Caramello Cold Brew, caramel syrup, whipped cream, cinnamon, between the UK and Canada
- Affogato di Marshmallow Cold Brew, toasted marshmallow syrup, whipped cream, graham crackers, near Cosmic Rewind
Spirited versions available with Grey Goose or Baileys, depending on which one you grab.
Four locations. None of them poured on day one, according to guests.
The Five That Did Not Show
Here is the part that is not a day-one hiccup. This one is on the schedule.
- Festival Favorites, September 9
- Coastal Eats, October 2
- Earth Eats, October 2
- India, October 2
- The Alps, October 2
Four of those land more than a month after opening day. Go this week, and you are getting a noticeably smaller festival than the person who shows up in October. Same ticket price.
India is the one people are genuinely upset about. It has almost always opened with the festival, and its Chicken Tikka Masala, introduced back in 2004, and Potato-Pea Samosas, from 2005, are among some of the best food items at the Food & Wine festival. Leaving those out of the 30th-anniversary opening weekend is a decision someone actively made.

The Alps is the same story. Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese dates back to 1997, and that booth also carries Tartiflette, one of the most hyped new items on the entire menu.
Coastal Eats and Earth Eats bring back the Crab Cake, the Seafood Pot Pie, and the Red Wine-braised Beef Short Rib.
The Money Question
Disney has said nothing about the reasoning. What follows is fan speculation, not reporting.
The theory going around is simple enough. Fewer open booths mean fewer cast members on the schedule, which lowers labor costs during a stretch when the parks are already slow. Late August into early September is one of the quietest windows on the whole calendar.
It stuck because people have seen this movie before. During the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, certain booths ran different schedules depending on the day of the week, and nobody could figure out what would actually be open when they arrived.
Staggered openings are not automatically a scandal. Some booths have always come online later, and Disney never promised a finished festival on day one.
The real question is whether that number keeps climbing, and whether this quietly becomes standard at every EPCOT festival.
If You Are Going This Week
Check what is actually open before you build a day around one dish. The festival passport and My Disney Experience update faster than anything published.
Craving the Chicken Tikka Masala? Does not exist until October. Same deal with the Tartiflette.
And if you were hoping to knock out Emile's Fromage Montage early, several qualifying cheese items are sitting in booths that have not opened yet.
To Be Fair
First days at Disney are almost never clean. Lounges open late. Menus change. Items disappear. Most of it works itself out inside a week.
The Florida Blue Lounge and those Joffrey's drinks are probably up already or will be shortly.
The booth delays are a different animal. Those were not mistakes.
Maybe one day there will be a Food & Wine Festival where everything opens on opening day again. On the 30th anniversary, this was not it.
