Another round of temporary changes is coming to Magic Kingdom, and guests with fall vacations may want to adjust their plans.
The closures don't begin simultaneously, but there could be a period when both attractions are unavailable.
That's particularly important for anyone planning an early-November trip.
Disney will temporarily close the Walt Disney World Railroad beginning September 28, 2026. The company expects the railroad to reopen sometime in November.
Then, on November 2, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will begin its own routine refurbishment. Disney currently expects that attraction to return sometime in December.
Exact reopening dates haven't been announced for either one.
The Railroad Goes Down First
The Walt Disney World Railroad will stop carrying guests beginning September 28.
Its upcoming refurbishment adds another change to an attraction that has already been affected by the enormous construction project underway at Magic Kingdom.
Disney is developing Piston Peak National Park as part of its expansion of the park. The Cars-inspired project is taking over the area previously occupied by the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island.
Because of that work, the railroad no longer completes its familiar loop around Magic Kingdom. Instead, it currently operates between Main Street Station and Fantasyland Station.
The September refurbishment will temporarily stop that service.
Guests will still have access to Main Street Train Station for viewing parades and fireworks. Storybook Circus Station will also remain available for activities during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
Disney expects the railroad itself to return in November.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Closes Next
Just as the railroad approaches its expected reopening window, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will begin its own temporary closure.
The attraction is scheduled to close November 2.
Disney currently expects it to return in December, meaning a portion of the holiday season will take place without the Frontierland attraction operating.
That's worth remembering for families visiting around Thanksgiving or during the first part of the Christmas season.
A December reopening window also doesn't necessarily mean Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will return at the beginning of the month. Until Disney announces a firm date, early-December guests should continue watching the schedule.
Early November Could Be Particularly Interesting
The two refurbishment timelines create one unanswered question.
Will Tiana’s Bayou Adventure close before the Walt Disney World Railroad reopens?
Right now, that's possible.
Disney has only provided November as the railroad's expected reopening window. Since Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closes November 2, both could technically be unavailable at the same time.
The overlap might only last a few days, or it might not happen at all. A more specific reopening date for the railroad should eventually provide a clearer picture.
Either way, guests shouldn't assume an attraction will be operating based solely on the month Disney has provided.
Magic Kingdom is already undergoing significant changes as Disney develops Piston Peak National Park and prepares for additional expansion.
These refurbishments will add two more temporary changes to the park during the remainder of 2026.
For upcoming visitors, September 28 and November 2 are the dates to remember. Both attractions are expected to return, but depending on when you're visiting, your Magic Kingdom experience could look a little different.
