After 15 Years, Disney World Park Is Transforming ‘Toy Story’ Ride

A Toy Story (1995)-themed attraction is undergoing a brief refurbishment overseas, offering a moment of calm compared to the ongoing technical struggles plaguing a similar ride back in Florida.

While Walt Disney World Resort continues to deal with an indefinite closure of Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios due to technical issues, a separate Disney park across the globe has taken a very different approach to one of its own Toy Story attractions.

Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, located within the Worlds of Pixar land at Disney Adventure World (formerly Walt Disney Studios Park), closed for a planned refurbishment on September 3, 2026. Unlike its Florida counterpart, this Disneyland Paris Resort attraction has a confirmed return date: September 10, 2026.

Guests shouldn't expect a dramatically different ride experience once Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop reopens. The short closure window suggests this is likely routine maintenance, whether addressing ride technology or refreshing decorative elements throughout the attraction and its queue.

An Attraction Unique to Overseas Parks

Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop holds a distinct place among Disney's Toy Story offerings — it's not found at either Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort in the United States. The ride first opened at Walt Disney Studios Park (now Disney Adventure World) in 2010, followed by a version of the same concept debuting at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2011.

Disneyland Paris Resort describes the attraction as follows:

“At Disney Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop Sarge has enlisted you to his little green regiment. But first you need to learn to parachute. So buckle up recruit, follow your orders and brace yourself for a thrilling 82-foot drop above an army base full of lookout towers and over-sized green toy soldiers. It's as if you're part of one big play set!”
